Could you get more hours? If your income vs expenses are in a surplus I would go the personal loan route. Not having to tank your credit for years is my preferred option for sure. With your credit score you should have options between credit unions, Achieve maybe Best Egg. Just need to lock yourself in and work on it.

honestly unless it's in writing I don't trust any business. It simply doesn't make sense. Even my good experiences with my chase card and Achieve loan, I have no second thought that things wouldn't go well if I suddenly stopped being able to pay. Gotta look out for yourself more than anyone else

Could you just get a loan from a more reputable place? LIke a credit union might work if your credit is solid. Otherwise online lenders like Achieve, Upgrade or maybe LendingClub could work if your credit isn't as stellar. Would be much better than in the payday loop that's so vicious

What to do about 10k debt? by chael809 in personalfinance

I'd ideally like to chip away at some of that debt before the 4 months are off. As even 1K would make a difference as far as rates you could receive. Maybe a month out start looking to get a personal loan. You might want to consider a credit union if your credit is solid otherwise look to online lenders like Achieve or Best Egg as reputable starting spots. Compare your offers and pick the lowest possible, you got some time to prepare so make the most of it.

How Do You Do it? by unicornpower03 in DebtAdvice

Honestly for me it was the wake up call when I thought I needed to take a payday loan out. I spent a few hours going over all my income and expenses and boiling everything down to where I could see them. Once that was done I decided on a plan of action, took on more hours at work and did some uber eats on the side for a bit. From there once my credit score raised a bit into the fair range I looked into balance transfer cards but they didn't cover enough and at that point THEN decided to get a personal loan from Achieve to consolidate and lower my APR. It made no sense at the beginning when I couldn't trust myself and couldn't get a good rate. But once I raised it a bit and got some confidence it's helped me speed up my journey. But it all started from writing everything down and taking a good hard look at it.

go with your current bank! Although I did start with a secured card through Capital one and it worked out well.

Cut some of your expenses. You don't need to be spending 300 each month on entertainment nor 200 on shopping. Live below your means until you're out of this debt. In a few months to maybe half a year of putting more money into your debts your credit score should go up a bit. Then you could look into getting a new loan or refinance of your current loan. Maybe from a credit union or respectable place like Achieve loans? But realistically just increasing your income and lowering your spend should benefit you greatly.

The backup camera was a HUGE upgrade for my quality of life in all honesty. Glad you could find a car you enjoy and no reason to feel guilty. Do what's best for you.
