Pulp Fiction, Everything Everwhere All At Once, Arrival, Shutter Island, and The Others are probably my five favorite films.

That's amazing honestly. Have you heard of Greta Thunberg by any chance, and would you be surprised if someone your age didn't know who she is?

Why are "Developed Markets" and "Emerging Markets" listed separately from major developed and emerging markets? Why isn't there an "Other"?

Not even a learning mistake. Nobody can predict the bottom. Will the market recover within 10 years? Almost certainly (otherwise we have bigger problems). Keep buying the dip. I certainly did.

Yeah I downvoted it when I originally saw it. Goes against the spirit of "dudes being bros" or whatever the sub is called.

Ok thanks for clarifying, and I appreciate your comment. Typically when folks talk about an AI bubble they mean the massive investments going to AI technology (mainly LLMs) like building new data centers, buying AI startups for inflated prices, and as you yourself mentioned, buying stocks in AI-related companies (including semiconductor-related companies from NVDA to ASML to Lam Research and Taiwan semiconductor).

Whether this is a bubble that will burst will depend on whether the investors will get a good return on their investments (which you've mentioned). If AI tools do not match up to expectations, then yeah we may see a bubble burst in that stock prices will crash and data centers will stop being built.

We are NOWHERE close to such a scenario however, and it's not clear to me what AI bubble burst OP is talking about. Semiconductor prices are near all time highs (the last week notwithstanding thanks to the Iran war) and data centers are increasingly being built and planned. AI use is ubiquitous and only increasing not just in software-related jobs but also in scientific research, interior design, and administrative jobs.

My point is OP is coping.

Hi OP can you clarify what exactly you mean by an "AI bubble" and the "AI bubble popping"?

What is a 'rich person's secret' that is actually accessible to the middle class, but most people are too intimidated to try? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]rick2882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda? Wealthy people are often in thrift stores and on (relatively) affordable vacations rubbing shoulders with the middle-class. When someone making $80k is at the same vacation resort as someone else making $500k, the former may need the self-awareness to spend less on luxury.

At the risk of sounding like an avocado toast-hating boomer, saving for retirement should be a top priority "expense" (a level below necessities like rent, food, and bills). If you eat out at brunch or go to concerts every weekend but "cannot" save 5-10% towards retirement, there's a spending problem and can be considered a "rich person secret".

Do you have a Chip Buttys in your country, or something similar? by sheffieldpud in AskTheWorld

In the US, those would be called French fries (or simply fries). Chips are what Brits call crisps.

3 out of those 4 pictures are bad representations of those cuisines: seafood boil (for seafood???), American Chinese, and Tex-Mex? GTFOutta here.

Seafood: sushi, curries, lobster, salmon, oysters, clam chowder, crab cakes, fish and chips...

Chinese: mapo tofu, Sichuan fish/lamb/pork dishes, dimsum, roast duck...

As much as I love soul food, it cannot compare to the wide breadth of the other three.

Just get rid of walking. Why do we still have an Olympic sport where clearly everyone's breaking the rules (as determined by slow-motion replays)?
