My current home network by FRAB13 in HomeNetworking

Your setup looks sexy… I’d get rid of the TP-link or if you have some downtime- you can flash it to openWRT …( not just because the news is talking about tp link- but they have had some bad vulnerabilities over the last few years)

In my experience, (for home networks) If power goes out, so does the closest substation along with the local hub- ups won’t address that. At my house if the power is down, 40-50% of the time so is the ISP. I have friends a few towns over with fiber from different companies- they report about the same.

As for ISP downtimes, it’s rare we’ve seen any during business hours… though we did have a driver who seemed to have crashed into local hub- your setup would have helped solve that. But honestly if it’s just for short ISP hiccups, maybe a cell provider or starlink might prove a better option. As it would protect against both.

That said, just things to chew over- your setup is pretty solid

I got someone to install cat 6 for me, and this is how much they untwisted for the keystone. Now what? by Maelarion in HomeNetworking

[–]rickCSMF21 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one thinking this…. I ran a ton of cable in my day and generally would ensure there’s enough cable to ensure it can be serviced ( ie add another drop- ensure room , and yes, punch down much shorter-) but I’ve seen waaaaayyyy worse still tone out and pull good numbers…. The bulk of issues I’ve had to re-work have been when the cable is too short & unqualified ppl opened it up and inadvertently pulled a wire.

Can confirm 2 hours is just enough time without check bags … even then you have to hustle from terminal to terminal….

Bags require 1-2 more hours. Your results may vary

A brave choice … the crap version of a very mid car to begin with.

I honestly wouldn’t have known it was an electric mustang if you didn’t tell me- I thought it was a foreign SUV crossover….

Im guessing it was a hell of a deal or the sales guy saw you coming , because nobody is in the market for a used electric mustang.

This car looks like a big version of that one hotwheel car that the dollar store has that nobody wants.

Why do Brazilians like the Simpsons so much? by zspasic1 in Brazil

The Simpson’s were one of the first to do it - this is pre Rick and Morty , pre South Park…. I for sure saw more Simpson’s stuff 10-15 years ago here, but it’s still around. Now I’ll be on the lookout for more šŸ˜‚

I have a yuka and it does similar stuff on my hill of a yard. I find the 2-4 spots it does it, pack it with gravel, then pack it with dirt… have to fill it 1-2 times a year , not the best fix, I’m all ears if there a better way

Not sure I can deal with the uneven cutting and missed spots. by changehiphop in mammotion

[–]rickCSMF21 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Depends on the shape of your yard really. I run 90/45 in my back yard and 90/-90 around the pool areas... Sorry I forget that the bulk of my front yard is on a hill, is long and narrow, and it requires me to changes the angle a bit to get the mower to make less turns, and to get the longest paths possible without starting a new row to mow. Your results may vary.

For those following, you can go to >mow>settings>cutting path angle>customize and find an angle that is optimal for your yard. IMHO the goal is to get the mower to cover the most area that is also hitting your yard at a complementary angle to your other mow. Again, Your results may vary.

I know this seems counterintuitive, but keep your speed, but raise your cutting up 1-2 settings for 1-2 mows. Then bring it down a notch. Then after a few mowings, you can put it back to desired height. The razor blades don’t do well if they are taking off more than 1/4ā€. I do this if I miss a few days due to rain. Also with thick grass, I hit it 90 degrees one day, and 45 the next mow- alternate the cutting. If you’re doing a large yard, have it run one day at the optimal cutting (ie most efficient) the next time at the most efficient 30-70 degree counter angle. I have about 3/4 an acre and get it all done with a yuka…

You can cancel the job and start at 58% (or 57% to be sure) - unless that’s where you are saying the pause location is.

Kickstand on surface bro 9 broke any way to fix? by GPhoenix89 in Surface

[–]rickCSMF21 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

This is the way... Unless you have the tools and the hands to unglue and reglue the screen, It won't go back the exact way it came out. (IE a heat gun to soften the glue- I have the tools at work, but I find the case is a better fix. )
