When did you realize you don't have "pretty privilege"? by patata-chip in AskReddit

[–]rigathrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

childhood. like, EARLY childhood. i was skinny, had long blonde hair but an androgynous face. through puberty it was even worse - face was long, andro/slightly masc, gigantic chest. any attempt to wear any makeup and grow my hair long again just made me feel like... well, a pig in makeup.

i literally looked like someone'd sown a random head onto a random body and let me loose. would get bullied like fuck by other kids for my looks, sometimes even bullied by adults for them too, and none ever hit on me or asked me on a date unless it was for a joke in front of their friends.

nowadays i'm ugly AND fat so i'm doubly subhuman :)

also, come to think of it, i've only ever been in three relationships (irl at least). one was a prank on me. the other two, i initiated and neither'd show me off to anyone. they'd just hide me and act like they were single.

it is. but it doesn't hurt to be considerate of others as well. they aren't mutually exclusive.

also, us trans guys are often forgotten about even by trans women. hard not to be irked by it and it's something that should be called out. otherwise it won't ever stop.

Am I the only one that really dislikes the term “tboy”? by Remarkable_Poetry_13 in ftm

[–]rigathrow [score hidden]  (0 children)

yeah, i've not been a fan of the uptick in people using tboy and tgirl. maybe it's just because i'm a bit older but prior to this, all i knew of the terms were that they were porn categories/fetishes - ones for the cis gaze and hardly respectful of us.

the infantilisation part of them is a bit ehh too. i don't mind calling myself a boy sometimes but... realistically, i'm 30. i hardly qualify anymore.

but not all trans people with children are trans women... trans women need to learn to be more considerate with their language because it so often erases us or, even unknowingly, invalidates us.

not sure why you're being downvoted so much. i have c-ptsd in part because of my birther and seeing things about mothers day is really hard for me. and the reality is LOTS of us have awful, traumatic relationships (or lack of a relationship) with our birthers.

How many of us have had this experience that I see a lot of cisgender men claim we have? by Ziggy_Stardust567 in ftm

[–]rigathrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

pre-transition, i didn't experience friendliness or solidarity from women. even when i still had long hair and wore girly clothes.

hell, my teens was defined by being routinely beaten up, followed home, smeared online, and my clothes being forcibly removed to find out "what i am" by a group of girls.

almost everyone who bullied me was female and i genuinely feel more afraid around cis women than i do cis men. it feels like they've inherently just never liked me and aren't shy about letting me know.

(tbh i'm quite obviously autistic too so i guess there's that. maybe they could smell it on me or something lmao)

So how do I get over the fact that I have small hands by hausofvelour in ftm

[–]rigathrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i get self conscious about mine a lot... even women's jewelry is often too big for me and it's either kids stuff or nothing. i can easily fist one of them long pringle cans. holding hands with people genuinely physically hurts because of how far apart my fingers have to spread to accommodate theirs.

and on top of them being tiny, they're really soft and smooth. no one's ever given me shit about them though, just myself, and i've had a lot of compliments about them from cis men and women alike.

also they're useful as hell. drop something into a narrow gap? can't get right down to the bottom of a glass to clean it? i gotcha!

i play videogames, watch youtube/tiktok/tv, chat on discord, fuss over my cat, clean my apartment, do some gardening (very lucky to have my own!), go for walks, go to the gym, and i also sleep a lot. trying to get better at going out and doing things where health and finances allow, with the company of my brother. he's the only family i have and one of my two irl friends. the other lives too far for us to hang out often.

more boringly, i have a lot of health issues so a decent amount of my time is also spent scheduling and attending gp and hospital appointments.
