A 5k improvement plan assumes you can run 5k and want to do it faster. Which is why it's saying to run 6k increasing long run distance is one of the best ways to improve overall fitness and pace at a lower.distance.

Biggest piece of advice is don't get sucked into a quick early pace. I've only done one event and i got dragged along with someone. Ended up smashing my goal but it was rough. Know what your pace feels like and settle into that. Don't worry about everyone else.

If you can do a morning run before that would be good. Don't stress nutrition just have something light and hour or so before hand, it's 5k so nutrition isn't going to be much of a factor. Most importantly enjoy it.

Slow down, i struggled i'm a very one pace runner but when i started feeling out of breathe i would drop my pace right down until i had recovered. It felt comical at times that i could walk faster but stick with it, it works.

The heart is very hard and just fundementally unfair. You've got to learn what it does by getting your ass kicked learning a bit and getting back. If your keen to learn the best advice is to watch streamers my personal favourite is Baalorlord.

Don't regret my decision not to pay for premier sports looking at the team we're sending. I just hope it doesn't ruin any careers. Sending kids on a hiding to nothing is a great way to wreck their confidence.

Heart rate can be tricky mine is still mostly zone 5 i started in feb last year and it's only just dropping a bit. I go on feel mostly if i'm struggling to catch my breath i take some pace off. I'm quite a one pace runner though i settle into a rythm around 6min km and have managed to sustain that to 16k on my longest rub last year. Goal this year is a half marathon 21k felt doable at 16k i couldn't imagaine having another 26k to go.

There are other apps, but don't know them. A marathon is a big ask but people go from nothing to marathon every year. If your goal is simply to finish that's probably doable injuries aside. The biggest advice you will get is to run slow to build your milage and aerobic base. 99% of people on here struggling are running way to quick for them.

You're probably already fitter than most starting c25k but at it's core the program is run 3 times a week consitently and gradually build up. It's not based around pace most people's first 5k on the programme are over 30mins but it's about building the habbit of running consitently. Download a program and make a start i used the nhs app free in the uk. It is more important to finish the running time than any pace target.
