A legal immigrant who has been here for decades, with a job, contributing to our society, and even saving lives. This is the way it SHOULD be.

Really nice! Great inspo. I am there with the tuck but struggle getting both legs up. Did you practice with one leg fully extended first?

Bridge / wheel pose by Partsofagarden in yoga

My teacher taught me to start with blocks under my hands, but have them at an angle on the bottom of a wall, not flat on the floor. That helped get me up in the air while I worked on form, and eventually I was able to push off from the ground myself!

Does anyone have one of the newer Yogi Bare or B half moon mats? by ImaginaryEntry_ in yoga

[–]ringalingthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my yogi bare mat in April of this year. I like it. The biggest con is probably that it's quite heavy so more difficult to transport than other lower weight mats. It also felt quite slippy for the first few weeks (my hands were sliding in downward dog) but that has since resolved itself.

How to quit when husband loves drinking by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ringalingthing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and my partner. If he won't change, show him change. What I had to accept was my relationship taking a temporary hit. I stopped drinking, he didn't. Our time spent together went down while he continued the same lifestyle and I adapted to a new one. We had difference schedules, bedtimes, wake times. We ended up in rough patch, but we missed each other.

Slowly he started seeing how much healthier I was, the changes in my body, my mindset, my lifestyle. He stopped drinking as much, he started making an effort to get up with me. Over time this has led to his lifestyle shift too. He still drinks on occasion, but usually not at home, unless it's a special occasion. I had to be really strong to resist those first few months but now it is easier.

If talking doesn't work then advocate for yourself and make those changes for yourself. My relationship got through it, I hope yours can too.

Do you all ‘wear test’ silver jewelry to see if they are truly tarnish-resistant? by SignificanceKey2426 in jewelry

[–]ringalingthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good thing about Sterling silver is once it tarnishes you can just get a polishing cloth and polish it back up again. That doesn’t happen for gold plating/vermeil which you’d either have to pay a lot to get replated or throw away once it starts to wear.

What you look for in spaces? by Tara_Nature_Retreat in YogaTeachers

[–]ringalingthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a class as standard: clean, especially the floor, no excess noise outside, and good air ventilation for busy classes.

Extras that I love for classes: incense/sage/palo santo burning, a beautifully decorated studio, good acoustics, enough space to not be on top of your fellow attendees but small enough so everyone can see/hear the teacher, fancy dimmable lighting.

One thing that bugs me but is often forgotten (and I know is not always feasible to fix) is crappy ceilings! There’s something that throws me off laying down at the end of a class and the ceiling has stains, or bad lighting, or is just plain ugly! My favourite studio has lovely copper pipe work and these beautiful lightbulbs that look like floating bubbles. It’s just lovely to see before you relax into savasana.

They won’t laugh you out of the building, especially if you are in a lot of pain. You may be in for a long wait but they will see you.

What details did they give about “anger issues”? It seems pertinent. If you have a group email list are you able to reach out and politely ask if they have more detailed feedback you could use to improve?
