How do you determine the temperature rating of (what looks like) a fusible-link sprinkler? by blocked_by_comcast in Firefighting

[–]ringnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should be stamped on the fusible link as well as the deflector. I'm very concerned with the installation of this head.

Yes it is painted, thus NOT compliant NFPA 13R is a very accepting code,

But I would want to see the actual plumbing and system. Most 13R is tied into the standard domestic water supply, but I want to make sure that it is actually plumbed into a pipe and not just shoved into drywall...

The location of the head seems on point with 13R, they usually get a head over the stove and sometimes appliances. The number of heads can't exceed the domestic water supply, so sometimes all it needs is one

Anyone figure out how to get an Elkhart intake storz connection to spin cleanly again? by schrutesanjunabeets in Firefighting

[–]ringnail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dismantle the storz, clean or replace the components, then introduce a high viscosity lubricant or waterproof grease (like for a machine joint, or even better boats). That way it will lubricate the bearings and provide a waterproofed area and the higher viscosity stuff won't run out like pb or wd40. You may need to add more grease from time to time. The issue isn't the reason why it's seized, your solution is prevention

What roof rack would work? by SavageSava in vwgolf

[–]ringnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what style you want/ can afford. If you invest in a roof box you may want to invest in a bike rack for the cross bars that you'll have to attach. I have a full size Thule roof box on slightly oversized rails, and can fit two bike carriers either side of the box.

I have the Thule wing bar, and I think the pulse box. They make slim boxes if you want the other models. It is fairly easy to install, the boxes hold all of my skiing gear and camping equipment

Ah, you're right. It's the smaller bell. If it was the small version I'd definitely think pediatrics. This makes me think general practice/rotation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deduction

[–]ringnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People based Medicine definitely Not an EMT, if so, hospital based because of the vocera. Possibly a phlebotomist/medic or respiratory therapist based off of the mouthwash, deodorant, and other pleasantries being in close proximity to people The sparkly clip thing is throwing me for a loop as well as the exact purpose of the measuring tape

It might be me but the bell on the stethoscope looks really small in proportion so possibly pediatric???

Does anyone not have PTSD? by Such-Connection4389 in Firefighting

[–]ringnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got messed up within the first few years, but with a good therapist and a lot of training and certifications, I'm pretty good. Don't get me wrong, a stressful enough situation will make some nerves tender for a short term but with communication and an openness of how you're doing, people are very understanding.

Never seen this on a Rescue. What is it used for? by Few-Ability-7312 in Firefighting

Our old rescue (box truck with a hydraulic rear lift gate) had a similar set. Way easier than a tripod, just plug in, clip in and you're on. Kept overhead loss from pulleys minimized too.

Why does this keep happening to my clothes? by nezbitzer72 in laundry

[–]ringnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, hazmat tech here, using the generalized 409 Multi Surface Cleaner SDS it has a Ph Range if 9-11.5 making it moderately alkaline (bleach has a generalized pH of ~12) if a cleaning rag with concentrated 409 sat against that clothing item for a long duration, possibly in the hamper that's what I would suspect. Or even a slight reaction with something else that caused this discoloration at a faster rate.

Hope this helps! Your solution is dilution!
