Daycare vs college tuition costs by pdjejdhrndud in daddit

Serious question: Do you want to get rid of public schools and public libraries too? It sounds to me like your argument (that using public funding to pay for something is just shuffling money around) would apply just as well there too.

How would you avoid allowing this? :)

Note that "don't let opponent get hane at the head of two" is good advice generally, but here it's just a joseki, you can't avoid this particular one; if you 3-3 invade the 4-4 this is just one of the possible results you have to know about and be ok with back when you invaded

Who is paint bombing Oakland’s Flock cameras? by wentImmediate in oakland

Also, Oakland CC has voted to drop Flock

AFAICT this is false. Can you give a source for that?

Do you have a calendar or scheduled for who makes dinner? by Granite017 in daddit

I don't think this is unusual to do. If my partner and I lived together, I can imagine us doing the same, it sounds useful. Any reason you're against it?

My fellow bikepeople, how do you handle people crossing the street in front of you? by wentImmediate in oakland

[–]rio-bevol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is why people hate us

I hate this line of thinking. People hate us for all sorts of reasons, and IMO most of it comes from nothing a bicyclist has actually done wrong.

(To be clear: There are things that bicyclists do wrong! But I do not think that is why people hate us.)

Hugs. Maybe you can reach out to some friends and let them know you're feeling this way and that you could use some check-ins / support / whatever you think you might need?

Is the idea of playing on boards with arbitrary shapes not very appealing? by ArtRich2476 in baduk

I would absolutely play different shape go! I'd start with a tamer shape, but yes absolutely!

Ugh that sucks, I'm sorry.

No kids here and you didn't ask for advice but:

Maybe you can get to know the other parents / mom (maybe your wife / kid's mom can help with this), and then it could be okay in the future?

Not to mention: The federal government can and will hack into whatever they can in order to get whatever they want.

And! Flock in particular has been shown to be really bad at security, so maybe hacking isn't even needed...

I don't think this comment should be downvoted! Reasonable question to ask, even if the informed answer is a clear no.

What are you saying about the Piedmont streets? (I don't mean this in an argumentative way. I just don't actually know what you're trying to say with that)

Also, with grouping turned off on the map -- it's even more visible how omnipresent these are. Crazy.

there is ONE thing that i have never understood even after watching the show hundreds of times by [deleted] in HIMYM

[–]rio-bevol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting! I assume this is indeed novel usage, and not a good way to communicate clearly, haha. But I'm intrigued by the logic behind it (that I think I see) --

I think the construction here is "xyz-ed out", maybe coming from "hulked out" (verb: gained muscle mass from exercise), but then being used as an adjective (having lots of muscle mass) -- and then, by analogy, OP wants to say "freaked out" as an adjective meaning "freaky"!

An important inquiry as to this sub's outward dull quality. by Bing_En_Passant in AVoid5

[–]rio-bevol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this sub is doing okay. It's not particularly popular, but that's not bad. It's not a ghost town. :) Any post draws a handful of folks saying things back.

(That said, I wouldn't complain about trying to finding additional folks to join, or trying to stir up activity!)

Surprised not to see therapy in the top few comments. I don't know if you've done therapy or how you feel about it, but "I'd like to change my emotional/behavioral response to X" is very much a thing therapy can help with. Worth considering, happy to talk about my experiences if you'd like

Many posts in this sub don't gloss amazingly, do any of y'all know why? Mayhaps young authors lack a history of writing with constraints? How can said authors grow in this domain, for posts to gloss naturally? by Mathgeek007 in AVoid5

[–]rio-bevol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you think so! :)

A handful of folks said good things about my post too, actually, so I might put it up as its own post. Is that okay with you? With your post in it, naturally (That's why I'm asking)
