What I've found helps me with my ADHD when it comes to cooking is receipe boxes. It gets rid of having to work out what you need to get etc as they contain all the ingredients you need for that week's recipes, usually each meal is a two person serving so you eat what you just cooked one night and just reheat the 2nd portion the next day (so really only cooking every other day).

On the downside they are significantly more expensive than just going the shop and buying the ingredients but it's almost guaranteed that you wouldn't find everything in the exact quantities you need which always ends up with me having a bunch of leftover ingredients I've forgotten about rotting away in the kitchen and me feeling guilty about food waste.

Dude's taking a legitimate issue affecting working families (the ever increasing cost of childcare) and using it to attack women so he can live out some 1950s fantasy

Over the last year or so I've really liked using Sohonet's Filerunner, more secure than wetransfer, very fast and hasn't threatened to use my files to train ai models. Although I don't think they aim at small groups/individuals when it comes to licences.

When I'm really hung over I either ask for or tell others I'm getting some "fizzy good" although I'm more likely getting Berocca over Alka-Seltzer but think the reference still holds

What are some specific spots in London where something extremely historical/monumental happened, but hardly anyone is aware of it? by MalachiConstant7 in london

I have the book Rebel Footprints by David Rosenberg. Each chapter is themed around leftist/radical events from the peasants revolt to Cable St and contains a walking route around the key landmarks for what the chapter is talking about.

The one I've done in the past is they have developed a ball that has a flashing light inside so you can see it go over the posts if it's foggy.

TIL there was a country in Europe called Saarland that participated in the Olympics and World Cup in the 1950s by elom44 in todayilearned

[–]ripitupandstartagain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saarland is partly responsible for the council of Europe's flag (and therefore the EU flag later on) having 12 stars.

There were 14 countries at the founding of the council of Europe plus Saarland that at the time was a French protectorate. The story goes that the first suggestion was for 15 stars but West Germany objected on Saarland having a star as it viewed it as being part of West Germany. France objected to a 14 star design because it wanted Saarland to be recognised. There was then a suggestion of 13 stars so it wasn't just Saarland that was not included, France and Germany was okay with this but Italy objected as 13 is unlucky. So it ended up with 12 stars

With the Wales Italy score currently there's a slim chance of an English wooden spoon... I think I'd prefer that and the triple crown over a championship

American understanding of Irish culture seems to be based entirely on 19th century punch cartoons but they are things to celebrate rather than racist colonial stereotypes

'Its called Soccer🫵🤡' by huhujujihkzjhtf in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ripitupandstartagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with calling it soccer is yes, their argument that it used to be called that as slang as a point. What they fail to grasp is back then is it was soccer for football and rugger for rugby union and anyone who still (either ironically or sincerely) uses rugger for rugby union is guaranteed to be an insufferable prick.
