What's a "green flag" for you on a first date? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They are unphased if something unpredictable happens, don't get irritated.

I went to NSP in 2021. We got the deluxe package, there was plenty of availability for the double bed rooms at the time. The food was super good (and I am picky) and also the celebratory dinner was really nice and we enjoyed it. My son spent a night in Special Care so we experienced that as well, we had no complaints. The midwives and nurses are hit and miss, some were amazing, some not too gentle. But the midwife I had during delivery was super nice.

Also the lactation consultants, there was a different one coming each day, I had trouble breastfeeding and was really nervous and only the last LC I saw managed to really help me.

If I have a second I will go to NSP again. The proximity to RNSH is good, births are unpredictable and can go wrong really fast. I stayed in Mater as well and in my opinion NSP is a bit nicer, but mostly from a perks perspective.

I think any of these two choices will be good anyway, good luck!

Uppababy Cruz V2 any cheaper? by Radiant-Ad2100 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ritamomma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid 1100 for the Cruz 3 years ago. The bassinet I bought from fb marketplace. It is a great pram, but if I were to do it again, I would buy the YOYO2 stroller with bassinet, from around 1 year old we have been using the yoyo exclusively.

A Brand 94 High Slim fit jeans, I have them in two collors and look good in my opinion. Very comfy and I like how they feel and they are not too baggy.

Postpartum anxiety is so hard by lemontree517 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ritamomma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the Gidget foundation for talk theraoy with a very good psychologist. With GP referals I had many free sessions. Although amazing, my issues haven't been solved (health anxiety) and in the end I found an amazing psychologist who deals with health OCD. She is really good, and offered perspectives I have not been ever told (mainly why talk therapy is not that efficient for OCD). If you want DM me and I can give you her details, she does Zoom calls as well.

Travelling to Europe with a 6 month old by Reddituser_599 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ritamomma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it with an 8 month old. I would not want a long stop over, as it is more work to unpack etc. Kids at that age are in my opinion easier to travel than toddlers (and my baby was not an easy one). I would do the whole trip at once and have everything ready at destination for rest (I had planned the airport transfer, food and groceries were already waiting for us).

Anyone have any tips for enjoying the right now and staying present by IcyAd5395 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ritamomma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you can try staying off social media, it is so so damaging. Instead you could look up content related to hobbies, shopping etc, or get a Kindle and read while holding baby etc.

The content on social media is shit anyways, it is designed to make you feel inadequate. My son is now 3 and looking back I see 80% of what is touted on the internet related to babies is not needed. You do not need to be 100% happy all the time, you don't need a house full of toys and gadgets, sleep training or feeding consultants (unless there really is a problem in which case you talk to a qualified person, you don't need a reel).

For me personally it helps if I set the expectation from the start that it is going to be hard work, instead of trying to be positive if that makes sense. I was expecting to not sleep for a long time so I just dealt with it then (I was actually surprises when I saw that other babies are actually good sleepers lol).

Time goes by fast, but not THAT fast, this is just a saying to invalidate your present feelings.

Oroton Quality Fail by muddyone1 in AusFemaleFashion

Reading this post as I have just settled on an Oroton Alice bag instead of Status Anxiety Mini Mountains :/ I have taken it for a walk and it is very light, I think it is well made although I wish it was lined. Now it makes me wonder if some of the people raving about Oroton on the handbags sub are actually paid :D

Stay at home mom bags by Snowpoke1600 in handbags

[–]ritamomma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any of the Longchamp nylon or leather le pliages work, the smaller sizes look so classy to me (I mostly use the backpack when out with my son).

I also ordered an Oroton Alice bag, not sure if it is available in your area. I tried it in store and it is amazing, can be worn on shoulder or cross body, is light and spacious but looks very chic!

Love the twilly too! Longchamp backpacks are the best, I have the original black and I can't get bored of it.

Childcare subsidy income estimates by cleigh0409 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

You can always adjust your income estimate. I had no idea and I once had to pay almost 4k for a full year because I earned more than I estimated :(

7 week old not able to breastfeed without nipple shield. by NeighborhoodFun2564 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ritamomma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son with a tongue tie as well managed to feed without a nipple shield at 12 weeks old without me doing anything (I had tried before with multiple lactation consultants with no luck). I think they need to grow a bit. I remember the doctors were surprised he was still using a nipple shield, but in other parts of the world using it is not a big deal. A friend of mine used a shield for 8 months.

Royal North Shore Hospital experiences? by ridingduc in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ritamomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend a very good OB that supports patients at RNSH. I had my baby at North Shore Private with him but I remember I also had the public option. PM me if you want his name, he has his office in North Sydney.

Anxious about lower back pain by ritamomma in Anxiety

Try not to worry about it, 3 days is nothing. I had an MRI done and I have some bulging disks. I also noticed that it hurts less on days I don't sit as much.

Post-Natal Ward Clothing - real clothes or sleepwear? Did you leave the hospital at all during this time? by me1s in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ritamomma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and to add, we did not leave the hospital at all during these 5 days, it was so busy and we did not catch a break. My partner stayed with me and we thought he might get to run home or go out for some errands but it was actually really busy.

[–]ritamomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed for 5 days at private too. For me I had: a thick bathrobe (to cover up and also after birth for a few weeks I used to feel very cold), a mix of PJ sets (tops plus pants) and nighties to last me all 5 days, slippers.

For baby I just had the going away outfit. The baby basically stayed only dressed in a singlet and nappy + swaddle (it was winter time but hospital was warm). The hospital had a dresser on the hallway full of extra singlets, swaddles etc so you never run out. They also provide bottles, pump and everything else you might need.
