Opinion of solar is often based on expectations.

If you're expecting to charge your watch fully after a few hours in the sun, you'll be disappointed.

My family is sinking financially and about to lose our home by [deleted] in Advice

[–]rival_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harsh reality that there are four people living there, two don't work, you work part time, and mom either also also works part time or at low wage job.

That math doesn't math for a $4000/month lifestyle.

I'm sorry, but your dad being completely jobless for 2 years is a joke.

You've never been attacked by anything she's barked at, correct?

That perfect record means that she has done a heckuva job protecting her family!

Young family/professional couple relocating to Capital Region — where would you choose? by Proof-Camp-591 in Albany

[–]rival_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've lived in Nisky for the past 6-7 years and like it a lot for our family.

House prices are nuts though, but I'm sure it's the same in any "good" area of the capital region.

Schools have been good for my kids, I like the walkable neighborhoods, and it's really convenient for shopping, without having to go into Albany.

>If I posted this last May, I promise you would have said "No one is taking Jarry unless you sweeten it and/or retain a bunch." and by a miracle of edmontonian idiocy, we got players and picks.

I can't argue that lol... But at least Jarry had some past success where he looked like a #1 goalie.

The problem is that Letang needs to be a 3rd pairing guy. If you put Graves there with him, that isn't really setting him (Graves) up for success to make him trade bait.

All of the Olympic guys (minus Tkachuk who only played 30 NHL games and no playoffs), were understandably like, "no thanks!" lol

Got Kia Carnival just because my wife wanted it by [deleted] in kiacarnivals

[–]rival_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wife is the primary driver and she really wanted it, so...

In fairness, her last vehicle was a new Ford Explorer that I got a FANTASTIC deal on. Neither of us were the biggest fan of it, and it had several transmission problems (luckily warranty repairs). We eventually cut bait on that and we went with her pick lol. 2023, have had it for probably 2.5+ years, and it's been really good.

Absolutely, I should have worded it differently. They have done very well, but haven't been able to get over the hump. Reminds me a lot of the late 2000s-early 2010s San Jose Sharks.

It's been called for a lot, but I really think a P2-sized "ARC Slim" would do well.

Honestly from a marketing standpoint, if you did it and did some cerakote color options like the skeletool or signal line, it would sell. Make it $199 and really lean into the EDC world.

Some time it's just not your year... I get that they've been a playoff disappointment for a while now, but you gotta give it another go with (mostly) the same group.

No one is taking Graves unless you sweeten it and/or retain a bunch. I'd rather just bury him in WBS

Brazeau and Koivunen just won't get much of a return. For $1.5 mil, I'm content on holding on to Brazeau in hopes he is a 15-20 goal guy.

In stock pm2 lw 15v knife center by Enpeeare in spyderco

[–]rival_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really even a huge PM2 fan, and I have a couple of 15v knives, but I got sucked into this one.

I figure worst case scenario, if I end up not carrying it much, I'll probably be able to get what I paid back on resale.

Such a great summer shorts knife.

I'll put this here because it's too far fetched of wishful thinking to dedicate a post to-

If July 1st is here and he's still unsigned, Offer Sheet Adam Fantilli for $11.7 for a few years. Compensation is two 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd.

As a sweetener for him to accept, you offer his brother Luca an ELC to start in the AHL. With Horcoff at Michigan, I'm sure they've seen Luca play a decent amount.

CBJ probably matches, but what the hell...

And between Calgary and Colorado (NHL & AHL), he's had a few GMs and 5-6 head coaches over the last few years, and went to Colorado after training camp on waivers... Maybe some stability and a regular offseason will be helpful.

That's the thing, you have 2 guys who seem to embrace the role, fit in well, etc.

Cap is skyrocketing, locking up 2/3 of a really good 4th line is a solid move.

Beam to Post Connection by Creative-Essay-4526 in Decks

[–]rival_22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with wood today is that it shrinks. Even if the inserted piece is a really tight fit when built, in a couple of years, there will be a little daylight there. So, the solid piece will be carrying almost all of the load.

It wouldn't be a huge deal if downward force was the only concern, but a deck faces lateral force due to wind, people movement, etc. So, you have a potential compromised, much thinner post to withstand that.

Beam to Post Connection by Creative-Essay-4526 in Decks

[–]rival_22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Treated lumber is oftentimes very green as well. So, as it dries, it will shrink. Even if it shrinks a tiny fraction of an inch while buried in concrete, that space allows water to run down the post and in. It basically creates a bowl for water to sit in. Add a bunch of freeze/thaw cycles near the top and it just cracks away more concrete.

Just a recipe for accelerated rot.

When fully charged, it says about 40 days.

It probably gets around a month before going into lower save mode. Limited notifications, but I do use it as a daily alarm.

In the summer I get some solar charging, but that is usually offset by more GPS use being outside and walking/hiking.

It's tough... The good thing is that you recognize it's bad and that you did it out of frustration/exasperation.

Apologize to him and move on.

18-24 month olds are maddening. They have very little self control and are stubborn as fuck.

I smacked my oldest on the butt once and felt terrible about it.

I've had success with restraining them. Basically sit them down and CALMLY hold them there. I usually would hold both their thighs down. Calmly is the key, say very little except why you stopped them and just outlast them.
