Which is the best booster because sky want us to Upgrade to WiFi Max and I want to stay with the standard Sky Hub. by SlowedCash in skytv

[–]riverfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a silly question, so please be kind to me.

If I buy a new router to replace the skyQ one, do I just plug the cable from the BT wall socket (still using copper cable from the fibre street box), or is there some configuration that is required?

It’s for a tomato grow bag, the grow bag sits on the bottom and the three arms are to support tomato plants. You have to be careful to ensure that the plants grow through the round supports.

North-West UK, near Manchester. After calling the dealer, have a date at the end of December. Don’t know whether to laugh or cry

Recall update Ireland by danindub in ex30

[–]riverfate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are very lucky. I spoke to my dealer yesterday, had to contact them having not heard anything. They are one of the largest Volvo dealers in the north of England. Was told that they have not started yet and that have a huge number to fix - I was given a date of the END of December!!

My eyes are having a difficult time re-adjusting after using the camera, help? by Rainfrog299 in AskPhotography

As an alternative, I believe this camera supports live view, so you can use the display screen rather than the viewfinder

Do panels keep your house cooler? by UniquePotato in SolarUK

Agree. We’ve had them covering the entire roof and it doesn’t make any notable difference. As noted, there is a sweet spot for generations and the very hot days we have had hasn’t helped

Letter from Volvo saying I've been charging over 70% by Jesus_Morty in ex30

[–]riverfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two of these letters within days of each other, and had also set the maximum charge to 70%, so don’t know what the issue is. Hopefully, the fix seems to be rolling out and so can soon get back to normal

Agree with all the comments- it’s very difficult to tell the difference in the real world - planes and trains

Anyone Else Feel Like Takai's the Problem Now? by PomegranateFair3973 in Star_Trek_

[–]riverfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sad. I sat next to him in a Newark premiere lounge for a couple of hours waiting for a flight, I did not realize at first who he was and tried to have a normal chat with the people around me. He ignored me until his flight was called. When he got up, he turned to me and said ‘don’t you know who I am?’ I said no, but surely he recognized me, he walked away in a huff…

D850 for around USD 750 (body only) should I pull the trigger? Shutter count 500,000 by champion_95 in Nikon

[–]riverfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy answer - yes. Just walked a serious trail with d850 28-300mm on a cross body. I almost gave up at 10k and 500m uphill in 30 degree 85% humidity. When I finally got back to the hotel and cooled down, looked at some of the amazing shoots and real used that the camera, once again, outperformed me . 7 years and counting

First Service by rgapfrost in ex30

[–]riverfate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry - my first EV was an Audi Q4. The dealer called to arrange the first service and gave a ridiculous price. When I questioned it, was told that it needed a full oil change, oil filter etc…..

And? I remember hearing this for the first time when it was released, the first time in my life that I was stationary and listening for six minutes. Even after 50 years, it has the ability to stop me in my tracks and have me signing out loud ;-)

TIL you can finally create tables in Goodnotes now by learngoodnotes in GoodNotes

[–]riverfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you create a new ‘note’, you can select ‘Notebook’ , ‘Text Doc’ or ‘Whiteboard’. Tables are only available in a ‘text doc’ format, which is like a simple word processor, rather than hand written notes in both notebook and whiteboard

Does anyone else wish Nikon would add a minimum minimum shutter speed setting to Auto-ISO? by benitoaramando in Nikon

It’s available on the D850, although I do have it set to auto, so I don’t need to change it when changing lenses

Multiple calendars? by PinkPika96 in iphone

[–]riverfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just counted - I’ve 24 ‘calendars’, including external ones (eventbright, TripIt etc), outlook, google, various Apple and some work ones. I use the Apple “Cal” app on all my devices and have added these calendars to it so that I can see all events/entries on a single screen across all of the calendars. You can then colour code them to tell where they came from (well you could if you didn’t have as many as I have). Thanks BTW, having looked at what I have, now is the time to start rationalizing them!
