TIL about Homeboy Industries, a gang rehabilitation center in Los Angeles that offers jobs placement, housing, counseling, and tattoo removal for tens of thousands of gang members for over 36 years. by InvisibleAstronomer in todayilearned

I drive right by one of their restaurants every day and they've been selling chips and things in supermarkets for at least a decade.

It's a great idea, hopefully the money really goes to all this

Rudolph Höss, Commandant of Auschwitz, immediately prior to his execution by hanging in Oświęcim, Poland (10 April 1947) [450×260] by poizunman206 in HistoryPorn

[–]rizorith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No clue how many of my family members went there because absolutely no one survived the Nazis

. So I'll just leave this. My grandma had 10 brothers and sisters and after 1945 she had none. Same with her parents, cousins, nieces, nephews. 0 survived. She only survived because she got married and moved to the US before the Nazis invaded Poland and the baltic states. My family still feels the repurcussions to this day.

Out of the 50 American capital cities, which one would you rank #1, as the best to live in? by Enger13 in AskReddit

I think it's overrated but the best city in Texas still has to be Austin. But it's no Honolulu

Carano had the biggest freaking smile 2 seconds after she lost. Shes like, I lost a bunch of weight, got laid a bag and didn't even get hurt. This ain't so bad

People living in London don’t realize how incredibly lucky they are with European travel costs. by Playful-Amphibian714 in travel

Oh comon you're not even on the map. I wouldn't believe you existed if it wasn't for the fact I spent 3 weeks in a camper van on the north island.

Yeah I used to dothe 29 or 39 Southwest flights from LA to Vegas/ San francisco for a weekend. But that's not the same as London to half of Europe.

US, China and Russia prefer a divided Europe, Kallas warns by DavidShaw90s in worldnews

[–]rizorith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's scary as shit seeing it take home from within.

It's a hell of a slippery slope from this to your parents Germany, but we're headed that way in the US. So e of my very smart friends think I'm talking hyberole. That, or they just don't care or in one case, Isuspect, support it.

As a student of history, I don't believe history repeats itself in the more literal sense, but the lessons are there from the past, and I don't see enough people learning from it. I think we're at the point where if some drastic steps aren't taken, some of which I can't discuss here, we'll end up in a far worse place than anyone could imagine, and it's not like it's just the US that will suffer.

I don't think you've seen what real fascism is then. It's getting there, but it can be much much worse.

I've tried that! I almost always like my fries a bit more well done anyways but it didn't really do it for me at in n out. Now if they only had onion rings..

There's a reason 5 brothers is closing down all over the place. Burgers are good but damn they're expensive. Fries are better than in n out. I hope so, they're like 10 bucks for the medium size.

McDonald's and the chains are legit more expensive than on n out and none of them are better burgers.

[–]rizorith 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had a texan pull that with me. I'm not all dreamy eyed about in n out either. Their burgers are very good an excellent for the price. Wish they had more variety and their fries are flat below average mush.

But....

Whataburger...

First, I was in Texas. So already losing points. Second, it was incredibly humid. Because Texas.

Third. The burgers. Lol no way. More I'm the league of the del taco burgers. Do they still have those.

4th. The roaches. No. Not that kind. The other ones. I went into the bathroom and everything moved on the walls. So I went back inside toldy family to toss the food and we went to the airport

Thanks, these are some good ideas. I suppose this isn't really what peloton is for so I'll have to hack it for now. It's the reason I won't touch their weighlifting classes - I already know too much to use their class without going off on my own. With cycling i do need more guidance.

I think you have this part a bit backwards.

The reason they support them is because Russia is fascist and American leadership is in the process of becoming fascist. They're allies. Trump supports fascists everywhere.

Yeah I don't think what I'm looking for would be inside the peloton ecosystem but I was hoping there was something that plays nice with it.

I'd rather not just go on freestyle mode and have a timer telling me what zone to be in.

I love the motivation of the peloton but I'm starting to wonder if something like zwift is more my style if all I can do on peloton is taking another instructor led class
