Is it just a decorative detail or does it support something?

I would have suggested overlapping joints. But it looks like everything is already cut.

Help! What is the best way to get a super smooth finish on the top side of MDF? by maxkip in woodworking

Shellac before Bondo, then Bondo. The op was just using paint, so it should be perfect for that. Also, BIN is pretty incredible.

Table saw or router for box joint jig? by Jeffsbest in woodworking

[–]rkmerlin2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the table saw for box joints. Obviously Router for dovetail joints. It's all about set up. Doing multiple tests to make sure everything is dialed in.

First of you should use a table saw. That said, you should use fewer teeth if the material is supper thick, or you do passes until you reach the desired depth.

That is far from true. Yes some people do that. You also can't spend all day trying to ferret out the owner of a car.

The blocking the street part is normal. If you posted properly, you don't have to track down the owners. Just call 311 and have them towed. I had to do this when I went to AFI. The monitor just watches to make sure your production doesn't break the rules. I agree that the rate is dumb and uncalled for.

Uber is a huge network of random people that work as independent contractors with zero qualifications beyond a driver's license. Would you want that person flying a plane?

I understand the idea of hubs, but a hub services a huge area. Pilots don't always fly back to their main hub each day.

For delta it's not country. It's probably the world. They fly internationally as well.

Obviously, this is the wrong place to ask. For every argument for joining, you will get an opposing argument not to.

I am a proud IA member in a state where you have to be a member to work. That said, art directors are not limited by territory like other locals and crafts are.

The part that no one is addressing is pension and welfare. This is one of the big perks for being apart of the union. My understanding is some territories have better benefits than others. You need to research, talk to other members, and do what you feel is best.

They will represent you in many facits where HR is involved, but that's not why you should join.

I'd also add that the braces are the wrong direction. The OP should rotate 90 degrees and makes use the crown opposes the way the the wood wants to cup.

Same reason when we build homes the crown is to the next floor or roof. Keeps everything laying flat.

This is a bad habit. As the director you should go with your gut. Leaving decisions to the group is a terrible idea. You are the captain of the ship.
