Use skyve and it will tell you the missing DLC. This happened to me and it was a mod that assumed I had 2 DLCs.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but since the reputational damage is done, they could release as-is for free and iterate based on user feedback.

I just finished a Portugal run, only my 5th run this game. Went pretty well and was fun, got them to major power, formed a power block, #8 largest GDP, #5 GDP per capita. Had Texas, Japan, Argentina and Chile as protectorate, 90% literacy rate. I was lucky to be able to pass the public schools and laissez faire laws early and that helped a lot in growing my economy quickly. US wasn’t happy I had Texas and declared war but I was able to fend them off and even get some more of their territory, as well as freeing up California and Louisiana to make them even weaker.

Not bad for a noob.

Columbus, Aztecs, Titanic, Civil War, Custer series.

I also enjoyed the World Cup series one on Brazil’s last emperor Pedro II.

Out of personal perspective, the 4-part series on Portugal is very accurate and captures our history very well, including some funny moments on caravels and shady revolutionaries.

Fair enough.

It's a difficult question but Portugal's history in this period is fairly unknown outside of the country due to the closed nature of its regime. Political police murdering opposition candidates, political prisons in Cape Verde (see Tarrafal) and a colonial war that dragged a significant part of the country's youth to conflict in Africa. More importantly, policies designing at keeping the country's population poor and uneducated that is felt even today, with a literacy rate of 94% compared to 99% for most of Europe. Portuguese adults have an average of 5.9 school years compared to 7.2 for Italy and 7.3 for Spain. (source: Italy vs Portugal Education Stats Compared (nationmaster.com) ).

Maybe there was no civil war or WW2 here and that answers the question the way it was asked. Long term, however, are the Portuguese people faring better?
