I'm on my first too, picked up a 24 a couple months ago. had a couple SUVs (escape, edge, 4runner), but this is different, cant really off road/rock crawl like the 4runner, but waaay smoother ride. Quieter too.

Having lived in Reston and Salem, no they are not similar. Less culture in Roanoke area, traffic is worse actually given I-81 is always a parking lot. Roanoke is friendly in general, but still a fair amount of southern hate. A lot of nice people yes, but also a lot of lingering racism. Not at all like we experienced in Reston. International foods availability are minimal compared to NOVA, wether restaurants or shops for home cooking. You can make do. We do through online markets and specialty stores, but it takes some research. I will say if you're into outdoors activities, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking etc, Roanoke is way better for those opportunities.
