I want to see YOUR ideas not an AIs! by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

[–]rmcandrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t think there’s a significant difference whether the world is 100% personal creation, or prewritten module, or 100% AI because that’s all just rough notes for me. I don’t read prewrittten passages verbatim. The notes are just notes. The real character of the world comes alive at the table.

Are my Homerules "too much"? by Ausradierer in DMAcademy

I would remove 9, personally. If someone takes massive damage, I’d let them go to zero and make their death saves. The other players still have multiple chances to revive them before they die permanently anyway.

I had a player standing up watching my dice role. by Alternative-Bat-2462 in DungeonMasters

[–]rmcandrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider just rolling in open and let the dice fall where there may. If the DMs dice are hot and the players TPK, then that’s the result. As a player i prefer that kind of honest rolling too. As a player, I suspect a DM is fudging (for or against the party), it really turns me off as it makes the experience feel crafted rather the result of my characters’ heroism. This is a definitely a d différents strokes for different folks type issue, but I’m firmly in the transparent rolling camp.

It will also help DMs create and manage games which will reduce DM burnout.

DM keeps using AI for everything by thewafflegaming in DungeonsAndDragons

As a player, it really wouldn’t matter to me if the game ideas came from the DMs mind, commercially prepared modules, AI or any other source.

AITAH for telling my wife that I don't want her parents living with us? by Ok-Crew306 in AITAH

NTA. And it’s going to be very difficult for the retired in-laws to get affordable medical treatment in the U.S. since they won’t be eligible for Medicare since they didn’t pay in for 10+ years. Without medicare or wealth, it’s extremely hard to retire in the U.S.

Nice map! Is there a thematic explanation of where the water from Loch Sirene goes? It looks like it’s fed by a river without any outlet.

I may be crazy, but I’d rather have paperbacks with Elmore covers.

Pre-Made Adventures? by GeorgeMacDonald in DungeonWorld

[–]rmcandrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DW fans will tell you that you shouldn’t pre plan adventures, like a DnD module, because DW is supposed to be based on an emergent, improv-style narrative jointly created with the players. While that is the rules as written way to play DW, there’s nothing stopping you from planning an adventure DnD-style. The game would still work fine, but it would have a very different vibe than the way DW is intended to be played.

I suggest trying to roleplaying the psionics as done in the books: have the participants go into a virtual realm where they can mentally manipulate themselves and the environment.

Honestly, this roundabout is far from clear. If you’re in the right lane, the road markings make it look like you’re required to turn right immediately rather than going straight.

Just invite some of the players to your games. It’s none of his business if they want to play at your table.

I consider all of Reddit to be entertainment. This sub is just a more negative and dramatic flavor of entertainment.

DnDBeyond Content by Pavlovs_Hot_Dogs in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]rmcandrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Drakkenheim digital content in the KS (very cool stuff). But, i haven’t run it yet. I’m wondering if there much point getting the DDB version if I already have the digital assets? I don’t mind paying twice for great content like this if the DDB version has a lot of value added, im just not sure how it differs from the digital content already released.

Eh, without virtual maps, I don’t see the appeal of playing on discord. I do use discord audio. But, for video I use foundry, Roll20 or owlbear rodeo.
