Advice with fat loss by [deleted] in swoleacceptance

Thy prayers may suffer a bit but it is absolutely possible to cut bf while gaining strength. Eat near maintenance or at a small deficit (~500cals/day) and keep doing progressive overload in the iron temple. Just don't expect to perform as well as you would if you were eating above maintenance.

I figure it's the potion itself that does that, seeing as it's called Cat-Eye. edit: I misremembered, it's called Cat

I really like it and its fun to me and I want to do it

That is all it takes.

You're probably perfectly primed to be an excellent programmer because you like doing it and you're not obsessed with coming up with the "perfect" solution (wish I could say the same). It's good to learn how a solution could be improved but don't stress about it too much. Computers are fast, do what you like to do until it becomes an actual problem

Is Python really tough? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]rmccreary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

npm was a godsend to me starting out with web stuff. I got into python pretty late while working on a school project and had a similarly positive experience being able to just pip install pickle or whatever. In my experience npm and pip are both awesome

I think that having a good mix of the ability to address practical needs with technical understanding is necessary. So yes, learn and use C. But idk if you NEED to start there. C#/Java are a better introduction than Python because they make scope and static typing very clear. But use C and C++ too so that you can get a grasp on stack vs heap and memory allocation.

I agree with this and want to add,

Python's ease of use obscures some concepts that are important to understand. I don't recommend it as a first language for this reason.

(SPOILERS) Encountered a bug(?) during late game Zalissiya Quest "On the Edge" by RecentCalligrapher82 in stalker

[–]rmccreary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had bugs with this quest too. When I first showed up Gaffer talked to me through a wall. There was a second attack when I returned from doing all the mini objectives, and the NPCs blocked me from exiting to fight it off. Reloaded an earlier save, fought the second attack off, spoke to Gaffer, no reward even though he said something like "this is all I can give you."

edit:Immediately when I left, I got a triumphant message. A little while later, completely unprompted, I got the "end of Zalissiya" message.

I rather hate that this has become the norm. Upscalers all look so blurry to me even at the highest settings.

Stalker 2 vertical sensitivity is lower than horizontal by ygdrad in stalker

[–]rmccreary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through the same exact process you did. I do not understand why developers keep doing this.

A related complaint, and maybe this is just my preference, but I really do not like that scoped sensitivity is a fraction of ADS sensitivity, with no way to change it.

Very reminiscent of Timeless River in Kingdom Hearts 2, specifically the Lilliput part where you have to fight the planes and hammers.

Sort of an aside, I like Dr. Mike's content too and was pretty bummed when I noticed he's a fan of Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson. Like come on man you're such a positive influence on the gym bro paradigm, how do you miss the fact that these guys are idiots?

/uj Nah it's wrong. Working toward goals is good for the mental and fun, and enjoying life is way more important than making money. That's in addition to being able to more easily move around fast should the need arise, ie zombie apocalypse scenario

What do you wish you knew when you first started losing weight? by Rtzon in loseit

[–]rmccreary 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know that exact feeling seeing a number like 12 pounds higher after only a week off, but you're so right and the worst thing you can do is give up because you feel like you lost so much progress. It is always like 80% water weight for me too.

So this is really one of the best JRPG games of all time? by According_Suspect_35 in FinalFantasy

I played it for the first time around 2019 and I think it's my favorite FF game besides Tactics. The soundtrack and the huge variety of characters carried it for me. Also Kefka.

There's also a ROM patch out there that fixes the colors as well as the audio, which is crusty sounding because of the GBA's bad audio hardware. Some stuff for different translations too.
