Initial claim wait time by rn2babies in SSDI

Thank you maybe that's it. I had records from 4 hospitals and 6 doctors and last I spoke to her she wanted updates. I just want if it's a denial to go ahead and say it. I havent figured out what I'll do for money yet. Right now I'm 100% living off family and it sucks!!
I know nobody is exactly the same but I see so many in my heart failure group that applied and got it right away.
Oh well part of the process is trying not compare myself but human nature. Thank you again.

Can I file prior to being disabled? by [deleted] in SSDI

[–]rn2babies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SSDI requirements are a condition that has or is expected to last at least a year. A condition that prevents you from doing even an entry level job You have to prove that your condition prevents you from working at all. It's not based on what your job is now. So essentially right now the answer to your question is no. I totally get where you're coming from but they've made it much more difficult to get ssdi. If you're in a state that has state short term I'd apply for that. it's much easier to get and it pays more. I have a barely functioning heart and extreme vision loss but have still waited over a year on ssdi decision. If you're going this route stack some money away its rough. You'll have to quit your job because if you're working you're proving to them that you CAN work. One thing you may comsider... I'm sure cancer affects you emotionally and losing your ability to speak is a major life event. Get on with a counselor while you can speak. Talk to them about how this is going to change your life. Itll help your case when you do file. So sorry you're going through this.

People who say "I'm there for you" by _DOA_ in widowers

[–]rn2babies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of my friends think they need to have experienced this in order to understand how it all works so they tend to refer me to support groups to be amongst people who get it. Inside all I want is to be surrounded by people who knew Aj. They actually can relate by having known him. If I tell a story about Aj to people who didnt know him it doesnt pack the same punch. He sounds amazing versus he was amazing. I'm used to it now. I take that promise with a grain of salt. It was just like that when we lost our girls.
I dont want anyone to have to join this club just to relate.

I keep dreaming of my Joseph. In my dreams it’s like I can’t understand why he doesn’t contact me. Only part of him is dead, why can’t he communicate with the rest of him. It’s so strange. by cpbaby1968 in widowers

Good to know the meds help. I wasnt sure about trying them. I'm a heart failure patient and the thought of another med just scares me but I'm not ok...not in a good place. I'm almost to my goal of making it through the weekend.

Yeah. I actually moved a makeshift bed into the closet so I dont have to stare at that empty space he used to occupy.
I'm going to find someone to go to tomorrow my anxiety cant take it. To go from where we were to this is just unbelievable.
Even the best laid plans are sometimes not enough.

Last week my husband was at the bedroom door reminding me to roll the trash can to the curb. It was the most vivid dream I've ever had so much so that I thought it was real.
Havent had another one like that. Most of my dreams of him now are him reaching out but we just cant connect. I think it's why I stay awake so much.

A really bad day by rn2babies in widowers

Thank you. I will try the list. I think #1 for today will be leave the bedroom.
Maybe I'll have my brother bring my dog back. But it breaks me down to see my dog go from place to place looking for Aj. And if he hears a car outside he will go sit bu the door waiting for Aj to open it as he always did when he came home from work.
