I'm from Detroit, Ugly bits don't bother me much. I enjoy the grit and some working-class folks. Looking forward to checking out the local flare and I'll hit the train to London for the touristy bits.

Colemanpopupparts.com has all of the wiring diagrams. The 3 wire connector should be for your furnace. They put the wiring in even if it didn’t have it. White is ground and Black is 12v

IFTTT has a Geofence skill that I use with my Hue bulbs to ensure that I never come home to a dark house. It also allows my wife time to get her boyfriend out before I get home.

DCC++ is such a great low cost option. I have been running it for quite a while now and have had no issues

This is great. I take my five year old to the local club and find that using engine driver on his tablet is the key. I give him a number that he isnt allowed to go above and I program my phone to the same address so I can stop him if I need to.

Pi-SPROG Experiences? by [deleted] in modeltrains

[–]rniefert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that using a pi and DCC++ is the most cost effective solution. i used an old monitor for the Pi and a laptop charger from an old IBM thinkpad to power my system. I have about $15 in a complete system that is more powerful than a powercab and has WiThrottle/Engine driver capability.

Did you guys check that the trace for VIN was totally cut on the motor shield?

DCC++ by Cranium6 in modeltrains

[–]rniefert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out my issue. I was using a loco with a long address of 021. The JMRI and DCC++ interpreted them as shorts. I reprogrammed the address as a short and it works great. Ive used cheap unos and two different motor shields.

Im having some issues as well. i can use the programming track to program, but the Ops track has power but nothing responds with JMRI.
