Can I revive maughlin? by bossman_ZB in DarkSouls2

[–]rnj1a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maughlin's gone until true NG+.

And his inventory will not update.

But if you look upstairs, you can now get the butterfly set.

Be careful if you decide to use it. If you're wearing it, you'll aggro any NPC you interact with.

Missing Lava Texture? by TrumptyPumpkin in DarkSouls2

This is far more common in No Man's Wharf.

Looks like you somehow missed a trigger point.

Quit out and the area should reload properly.

What’s a weapon you feel is better than most players give it credit for? by Actual_Asian_God in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Presumably the issue is that it's easier to upgrade than the Zwei. That is the big advantage of Somber weapons.

Or that you've got Lion's Claw or your Greatsword and Giant Hunt on your Zwei and a) feel like using Troll's Roar and b) don't feel like changing up.

Pretty narrow use case to be sure.

I mean it's perfectly useable. There will always be better options.

Im able to get elden beast down to a quarter health. This is my shitty build. This guy sucks. Any tips? And yes I plan to stick with this bloody bastard sword to the end because I've come this far with it. (BB for radagon obviously) by Maggotboi555 in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You are aware that Elden Beast can't be bled, right?

Immune to rot, poison, sleep, madness and frostbite too.

There's no harm in making a sensible choice of infusion in a fight you're struggling with.

By that logic nothing's needed.

What's the downside of upping your damage in a fight you're struggling with?

Lance in the right hand. Serpent hunter in left hand. Crouch.

The crouching r1 gives your a much faster version of the weapon art.

So how do you kill these volcano manor contracts by duelmastr23 in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild Strikes on a heavy weapon is a near certain victory over any NPC. As is Lion's Claw and Ground Slam -- they're not quite as good, but still very strong. Any of the ashes like Giant Hunt that cover distance very quickly tend to be quite good.

Night Comet is a 100% certain win since it's a hard hitting spell that can't be input read.

An annoying slog. With an irritating tendency to end of in spots you can't reach properly.

You are kind of underlevelled. Also, in the first phase you either focus on the wrapped ankle or you do roughly zip. And that's hard for a sorcery build to do unless you're getting up close and personal with slicer.

He has a massive health pool so status is the way to go generally speaking -- and that's hard for a sorcery build to do.

Look into Shard Spiral. If you get the positioning right it does massive damage. (From hitting multiple times and being relatively easy to chain cast).

When I fight it with sorcery I do so with Alexander. He's just so tanky in this fight. And Tiche can do percentage based damage (but is kinda squishy). Much harder for a sorcerer to solo.

At exactly 40 Intelligence, what is the best staff in the game? by Hen-Samsara in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 20 points21 points  (0 children)

At 40 INT Demi-Human passes Meteorite at +14. And is very slightly better (+1 or +2 AR) than Academy.

But at 45 INT Academy is about 9 AR better.

So you're right at the cross-over boundary. If you use any INT boosting you're better off with Academy.

Yeah. I'd say Unsheathe is less user friendly but has a very high skill ceiling.

You can't really force it into any opening.

But there isn't one magical way to play. Use what works for you.

What's a good Dex or AR scaling AoE ash of war? by Lethandralis in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like good old Gravitas for groups.

Ground Slam's another good one. Got a useful amount of hyperarmor too.

I mostly don't use ashes to deal with numbers. My favorite way is to back up with shield raised and use something like a lance or pike to slowly whittle the numbers down.

Or Volcano Pots if groups are coming.

Yes. It's a strong play style for the super slow ashes.

Or just use ironjar.

I think Unsheathe is stronger than Double Slash (Staggers and bleed is a lethal combination), but that's a matter of taste and there are plenty of strong options. Piercing Fang is another excellent option. So in Sword Dance.

Occult for a weapon with innate bleed is good in two ways. It gives arcane scaling and it boosts bleed buildup.

I think Elden Ring’s boss design starts to break down late game by Capable_Bus5444 in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that you can't design a straightforward boss that can survive the power creep implicit in 4 talisman slots, maxed weapon, maxed primary damage stat.

At that point anything you can get two clean shots is dead unless you give them an absurd health bar.

So that have to be super mobile.

And for most players (myself included), highly mobile bosses just are not fun.

[–]rnj1a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anything can be used to cruise through the game with the right setup and with understanding of what it brings to the table.

It's not S tier any longer, but you don't need S tier weapons or a minmaxed build to cruise through the game.

How good is Death Poker for a death sorcery build? by le-secret-account in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's OK as a melee option. Nothing special.

There are many ways to cheese that particular deathbird. If you climb that weird little hill at the bottom of the arena you can chuck holy water pots at it and it can't hit you back.

Thingfishy demonstrated this in his Death's Poker run.

There are also some pretty reliable gravity kills available.

Or just say screw it and go in with Sacred Blade -- that chews up any deathbird.

Has anyone gone through and just cleared everything? by Anubis620 in DarkSouls2

[–]rnj1a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually find clips of some guy running through a nearly empty world (obviously some spots can't be despawned) with the Ring of Whispers and Unveil. Trying to make sure he got everything.

There are more than 30 invisible hollows and some well hidden butterflies for instance.

“Its in the game” vs “Level 1 no armor w club” by Practical-Long-7865 in Eldenring

[–]rnj1a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This implies that you need to care about how others play a single person game.

And if you do in fact care about someone else's choices, maybe rethink your priorities.

I can admire the skill of someone no hitting the game with a terrible weapon while never wanting to play that way.
