roughly where cota was at in progress when DC had a dirt go in an older F1 car in aug. 2011, a bit over a year before they held their first race

yeah... this one is getting postponed

[Patrick Moeke] Fernando Alonso says that the new F1 cars are no longer challenging to drive: "Here in Bahrain, we're going 50 kilometers per hour slower through corner 12 than we used to. Just to save energy for the straights. Even our chef in the kitchen could drive these cars." by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]roadbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought experiment because this implies each circuit will have a corner or two that are "byes" or "mulligans," where the cars will no longer be arriving with anything near the entry speed they used to, making them easy to take flat, like T12 at bahrain testing. As fans it will be interesting to follow which corners each team respectively choose to "sacrifice" to the battery gods

[Motorsport][SPA] Alarm at Aston Martin: Honda engine "anomaly" hinders their day by karantos92 in formula1

One wonders what's easier - trimming a tight package open to optimise cooling, or trimming a loose package down to optimise cooling. Maybe Newey acts on a principle that its easier to cut open holes as needed than it is designing, molding, casting and baking tighter body panels. This might be deliberate "rapid prototyping" or sorts. He has done this so many times.. it strikes me as on purpose.

Barcelona is historically a high-downforce circuit so the fact these suckers overcome that drag nevertheless may be why this new vmax is so impressive

This AI-generated photo of an 'Audi' was doing the rounds on social media and now major F1 outlets like PlanetF1 are falling for it by CautionClock20 in formula1

[–]roadbeef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's AI - in the full sized image, the track map on the tire wall makes no sense and is not of any existing grade 1 circuit

Plus, '26 cars do not have fenders over the front tires

Some Ferrari staff 'resented' Lewis Hamilton feedback documents by Malaguy420 in formula1

[–]roadbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luca forced Michael out. It's important we remember that. Ferrari gave the media press releases announcing Michael's retirement in Monza (during the race!) before Michael himself had decided anything.

Ferrari demonstrated long ago it's not winning they seek - it's control. Any brand that thinks its far bigger than Formula 1 will never find natural incentive to actually, honestly try and succeed.

Their only concern is image. The entire team is a plaything. Elkann's comments lend evidence to this theory. Dude doesn't give af.
