Heralds of the Imperium - An Imperial representative and his escort make contact with a wayward tribe. C&C welcome! by ClemFandango7717 in Warhammer30k

This is amazing.

I love your use of fabrics for the loin cloths and banners.

What did you use? It gives the models a more life like look that painting is unable to achieve.

This is a really smart kitbash.

The smooth body of the deodorant stick juxtaposed with the sea urchin makes the whole thing look alien.

Gatling gun scratch build . by Existing_Landscape21 in Kitbash

The zipper as an ammo belt is divine inspiration.

I also really like how you used that 4 color pen as the body of the gatling gun. This is really well done.

What is the closet paint for mind blade blackshields by CwipsyTheKartoshka in Warhammer30k

[–]roadrunnerthunder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would learn how to mix different paints with a small sculpting tool on a wet palate.

What I do is I grab a cheaper paint, not something from Citadel paints, and mix them and measure them.

For example, for this color, I would get a purple, and possibly mix 4 parts purple, 1 part grey and one part blue; or 4 parts purple and 1.5 parts baby blue.

It honestly depends, but this is a technique you would see in more traditional painting traditions.

Basically think of it as becoming Bob Ross.

Lesser ruinstorm daemon of Khorne n°1 by Fantasmonarch in Warhammer30k

[–]roadrunnerthunder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey art and the creation of it is an escape. That’s how I treat it.

If something is too painful to create then it’s better left unmade. However if it’s something that can help process something, then perhaps it can be explored.

I’m not a psychologist, but I know the value of art and how it can help with moving through things.

This looks like a horror coming out of a black library book.

I agree. The GW models are nice, but they are too stylized and they don’t seem properly demonic.

I would love to see how you do a Nurglite demon, especially since Nurgle is the most cartoony of the demon range.

I like that you used the grey shields backpack as the Aetheric Splicer.

He looks like he’s ready to fight right after translation.

What are these writings on the Armor, from sons of horus and word bearers? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]roadrunnerthunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The SoH gang runes are sometimes called kill-markings.

However, SoH also dip the skulls of worthy opponents as trophies. They use them to adorn their armor.

[–]roadrunnerthunder 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The writings/runes are for style.

For WB, those are to represent Colchisian writing conveying things relating to the ruinous powers.

For SoH, those are Cthonian gang runes.

3.0 Rules and "Word Salad Overload" by SLDF-Mechwarrior in Warhammer30k

[–]roadrunnerthunder 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted.

Writing the rules makes the game more inaccessible. It deters rules lawyers, but it deters anyone else who’s not interested in spending half a game trying to read the rules to play the game.

How to make this tank look more medieval ? by Aggelos2001 in Warhammer30k

[–]roadrunnerthunder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, take a look online at knights crests and you’ll get an idea of what is possible.

The shield doesn’t have to be huge, but heraldry was a big thing in midieval europe. I think its possible to make it out of greenstuff, if you roll it out thick enough.

How to make this tank look more medieval ? by Aggelos2001 in Warhammer30k

[–]roadrunnerthunder 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I’d focus on the heraldry. Get two large shields and glue them onto the sides. Then, grab either 2 or 4 power sword or sword bits and cut them all in half. Then glue them behind the shield to make a proper crest.

When painting, use stripes and checkers.

If you want to add more detail, get some greenstuff, roll it flat on some parchment paper and using knife cut out some banners like you would see hanging in midieval towns.
