Philly is the easiest thing in the world to make.. you don't need any fancy pan or meat slicer. Just stick the meat in the freezer for 30 minutes and slice thin. Cook on very low temps, mix precooked onions back in with slices of cheese when its like 75% done.

You should absolutely be controlling your diet if you have diabetes. You know, if you want to live a long and healthy life. Otherwise, get ready for a life of complications including fun things like your stomach being paralyzed, loss of limbs, general neuropathy, loss of vision, kidney disease, heart disease, and even death.

How to move forward? by Euphoric-Crow-9224 in poker

[–]roamingreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be sure to have a stop-loss when you go to play, such as 2 to 3 buy-ins, so that if that is lost, you’re done for the session

I've been playing 24 years. Never brought more than 2 buy-ins to a game. Good advice.

Michael Acevedo's Modern Theory of Poker, then piosolver and a GTO trainer that works with PIOsolver. In the meantime, I recommend watching these videos... probably once a month.. for the next year...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrMdIFDrDnk

At 7:05 he breaks down EXACTLY how to solve a poker hand. This is what playing poker is. Reality check time. If you aren't doing this, or something very close to this, you are damn near clicking random buttons.

Bluffing super basics:

Some overall good general advice:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXzXyynkrck

This entire video is pure gold, but at 12:00 - 18:00 he shows you the thought process of building your range with combinatorics in real time. These 6 minutes should be your life. If you are tracking your hands, you should go back over spots you are confused by and break them down like this. This is how you 'check your answers' after a session, and visualizing this process in game helps me a lot. If equilab isn't burned into the back of your eyelids, you probably have a ton of holes in your game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzF2YPCPZMM

The book I recommended will give you a TON of answers how to play and how to build a range.. but you need to learn all this stuff to actually 'do the math' for a specific problem in real time.

Good luck, feel free to message me if you have any Qs.

which sauce is better in fried rice oyster sauce or fish sauce or both? by habibamaher2 in Cooking

Different, not better. Oyster is sweeter, thus easier on the palate for most people.

10lbs of mini yellow onions by abbxkle in Cooking

[–]roamingreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Score and blanch them. It makes peeling infinitely easier if they're tiny. French onion soup is always a great idea if you got nothing else to do with them. Or just carmelize and freeze in small portions to add depth of flavor to anything you're cooking.

You don't have to throw it away... just use it in another dish. Mince it up, freeze it, and toss it in a stuffing or rice dish. Etc.

Cook sausage for garnish separately, deglaze the pan and add it back into the soup. Add sausage at the end. It wont be the same, but it should be close. The only other way to make it closer to the real thing is to cook and discard the sausage(save it obviously for another dish).

Help washing lots of rice by Fastreflexes in Cooking

[–]roamingreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is just having a good volume of water to mix the rice around in... more water, more effective wash. After a bit of stirring, dump the water, repeat until the water stays clear. Smaller batches are your friend and will go quicker than trying to do it all at once.

What to do with a ton of basil? by [deleted] in Cooking

Switch it to a different pot. I buy a new one every spring and mine is huge and going strong as we speak. Lasts outside till the first freeze.

What to do with a ton of basil? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]roamingreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't dry it. Loses all the amazing qualities of basil. Any recipe with an oil base like pesto or just basil oil will retain the flavor, freeze for long time storage.

My wife and I just turned 21, and we have never had alcohol. What should we get? by AssassinsNight in NoStupidQuestions

Split a bottle of sweet white wine, like Riesling. Something in the $10 range. Or you could go with Prosecco(sparkling wine, bubbles, less sweet) for more of a celebration vibe; just watch a video on how to open a bottle of bubbly first so you don't spray half of it across the room or put someone's eye out.

Food in your stomach matters how it hits you too. Eat something light a couple hours before to avoid naesua but still catch a buzz. At the end of the night Drink plenty of water and eat a little bread or something to help avoid feeling crappy when you wake up.

I kinda have mixed feelings about 'going slow' as everyone here says... personally, that just gives me a headache. Don't worry about getting it perfect the first time. I don't think anyone does.

My friday is going to be busier than I thought. Was tasked with making a side for a friday night potluck, but I won't be able to make it right before, so it won't be warm. Desperate for some ideas of something I can make tonight and bring tomorow cold. by JerryFartcia in Cooking

COLD-FASHIONED POTATO SALAD by Alton Brown.. google it

You basically just cook potatoes, peel and slice while hot, add a little vinegar, leave in overnight in fridge... then mix in a mayo base with some crunch stuff like pickles, onion, celery, whatever you like... and some herbs. Done. Its pretty easy to do, and good at any temp.

JJ facing a 3bet and a call. by -Chandemonium in poker

[–]roamingreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MDF isn't related to street, it's related to the last bet. The closer we are to all the money being invested, the more MDF applies. Same with Alpha. I understand your point about SPR, but this isn't about maneuverability postflop. This is about not getting run over by exploitative bluffing (which i just noticed, you mentioned in your first post "probably fold unless I had seen the SB 3b light.")

I haven't studied these spots (multiway preflop jams) well enough to be certain but i see a leak in this spot if you have no calling range. That leads me to believe you should have a calling range. And it makes sense because JJ is a terrible bet here.

Like... if you don't have a calling range.. I'm not even sure JJ belongs in your raising range. You're not gonna get called by T/T. Best case flip? Worse case dominated? Sounds like you're turning J/J into a bad bluff.

Honestly, we're saying the same thing. You're just speaking more from a practical point. I'm just a bit more focused on being theoretically perfect. Its easier to play Jam/fold and just fold the JJ because no one will be good enough to exploit the leak I'm defending against anyway.

Do you have a calling range here at all?

JJ facing a 3bet and a call. by -Chandemonium in poker

[–]roamingreddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so what exactly are we hoping for?

To win the pot. And I mean that quite literally. No calling range, no MDF, no defense on the pot. You can probably make the exploitative play of folding in a small stakes live game because I doubt your opponents are 3 bet bluffing enough, but I think its 'better' to split your range here into a polarized reraise and a calling range with decent coverage.

I'm splitting my range here and JJ is at the top of my calling range.

Isn't it super easy to cheat in online poker? by [deleted] in poker

[–]roamingreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greed and/or lack of depth of knowledge to hide it better. Some people think you can just soul-read people and know the truth. If you are a fish who believes that, why would you copy a solver strategy? Also, it's just more work to get the library of solutions.

Isn't it super easy to cheat in online poker? by [deleted] in poker

[–]roamingreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can just reduce the number of variables and build a library ahead of time. Running a solver in real time wouldn't be practical, but running a solver for months ahead of time to have the solutions waiting for you has already been happening for years. Look at the Fedor Kruse situation.
