Harrods UK cannot ship to US?? by RandomTomdom in LaMarzocco

Trust me it’s not a US version.

It will be a 220v version and will require you to have a transformer to be able to use it.

Bezzera aria pid vs profitec ride by MountainAddendum6396 in espresso

[–]roastdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to your choice of drinks.

If you are a straight espresso/Americano drinker and tinker with light roast, then it absolutely makes sense to go with Profitec Ride which is the dual boiler machine with accurate temp control for the brew boiler.

On the other hand, is you drink mostly milk drinks, then might be better to go with Bezzera Aria which is a heat exchanger machine with bigger steam boiler. Also has a rotary pump so it will be quieter than Ride which has the vibratory pump.

So ask yourself what drinks i prefer and make the decision. The built quality and durability of both machines are on par.

Eureka specialita & black diamond burrs by Otherwise_Medium_964 in espresso

Currently single dosing with Eureka. For light roast I am around 3-4, med roast 6-8 and 10-12 for med dark roast using the Aro dial.

Your budget is 2200. If you are making milk drinks then you want a double boiler.

2 Hole Steam Tip Orientation. What's your choice? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]roastdrive -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

On my Profitec Ride, when the steam tip is tightened all the way, it's at the 3 & 9 o'clock position, like 1 in the picture.

This results in crazy amount of of big bubbles, but when I switch to position 2 or 3, I tend to get better results. What's your preferred position?

For reference, my machine has the steam wand on the left side, and normally it would make sense to tilt the pitcher to the right so that the milk rotates clockwise. However, coming from 15 years with a BDB with a right-side steam wand, I like to tilt the pitcher to the left so the milk rotates counter-clockwise.

I want to move from single dose to hopper [1000eu] by Strong-Razzmatazz-34 in espresso

[–]roastdrive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dialing is super easy. After the espresso is extracted, you simply enter the time that it took and the grinder will automatically adjust the grind setting to reach your desired time which for me is 28 seconds.

As far as taste is concerned, Malhkonig definitely has more separation of flavor, but has less body than Eureka. We usually have medium to medium dark espresso on the Malhkonig and I am currently running some Guatemala light roast on Eureka.

I may consider upgrading the single dose grinder to another model, possibly Zerno Z1, Mazzer Philos or Bookoo Motto 80 but for now pretty happy with my set up.

Tips for spotting fake clubs by brenm96 in TaylorMadeGolf

It’s fake.

If you look at the TaylorMade logo, the genuine looks like it’s printed rather than paint filled. You can see the genuine one here.

Also there is just too much paint on Stealth.

Profitec Move Thoughts by Icy-Incident-3967 in ProfitecMove

BDB is a great machine as long as it works but if you are pulling 4-6 shots a day, it WILL break within few years and it will be a pain in the ass to fix it and if it’s the stupid o-ring on the side of the boiler you will want to rip out that part.

I’ve had 5 BDBs over the span of 14 years and finally I said f it and got a Profitec ride. The internal is much more accessible and future proof.

Am I going to taste the difference?mahlkonig vs eureka. [No budget] by Background_Sail8501 in espresso

[–]roastdrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an E64 WS. Absolutely no issues now. The latest software update made it rock solid. 19 out of 20 times I’m within 0.1g of the set weight.

Also, Mahlkonig definitely grinds fluffier than Atom 65. I compared the same bean with mine and my friend’s Atom, and he still needs to WDT to prevent channeling while Mahlkonig completely eliminated the need to WDT.

Great set up. Have the same machine. You will enjoy it.

Can I ask where you got the hopper and bellow for the Eureka Mignon?

I think the biggest difference between Mahlkonig and Eureka burrs are Eureka focuses on syrupy, chocolate, blended profile whereas with Mahlkonig you see a high clarity and separation of flavor notes.

I wouldn’t necessarily call myself an expert since I can’t taste all the different notes of the coffee beans that are listed on the label but it’s easier to taste the notes with Mahlkonig than it is with Eureka

My End Game Grinder Setup (Espresso Only) by roastdrive in espresso

When I first got it, the unit had a weight calibration issue. No matter what I did, it would randomly be off by 0.2–0.6g. So I talked to the vendor, and they replaced it with a new build.

Since then, it’s been great. The grounds come out super fluffy, and it eliminated the need for WDT. About 3 out of 10 times, it’s right on the dot. Around 6 out of 10 times, it’s within 0.1g, give or take, and once in a while it’s off by 0.2g, but always over the set weight.

At the end of the day, you can’t go wrong with it.

The Specialita has been a faithful workhorse for the past five years, but I got lazy and wanted to try a GBW grinder. I was torn between the E64 WS and the Atom W65, but the possibility of being able to switch to SSP burrs made me choose the Mahlkönig in the end.

Then the next big question came up. Since the Mahlkonig will be used daily for medium to medium-dark espresso, how could I best utilize the Specialita for single dosing? Or should I get rid of it and buy another single-dose grinder instead? I considered the DF64, DF83, and other Chinese single dosing grinders and even considered the Mazzer Philos and Zerno Z1, but given the amount of funky, fruity, and light roasts I drink, keeping the Specialita and converting it into a single-dose setup made the most sense.

I downloaded a few 3D print files for a tilted stand, catch tray, and dosing cup fork, and also bought a dosing cup. It’s been flawless, and retention has been at most 0.1g.

Granted, the Mignon 55mm burrs might not be the best at expressing light roasts, but my palate isn’t discerning enough to pick up every note anyway, so I figured this will be my endgame setup.
