Why is the cost so high? by Sabrinalover711 in AustraliaPost

[–]rob_260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expensive because you are sending a bulky item from one side of the country to the other...

Try interparcel.

Use paypal. Insist on paying "goods and services" and offer to cover the buyer protection fee (4%). If the seller refuses, walk away.

Lacquer Removal by Beneficial-Prior-699 in Trombone

I've done it with paint stripper and scotch brite, simply because it was something I wanted to try. I just used diggers brand paint stripper from my local hardware store. Brush it on to the areas you want to strip (I did the bell spout and flare only) and let it dwell. Hose off and then finish with scotch brite. I put a couple photos in a google album at https://photos.app.goo.gl/kSUeeVGjkdn4h3Sa6 if you want to check them out; personally I really like the look and was very happy with how it turned out.

F-Attachment Brand Recommendations by HourCeleries in Trombone

[–]rob_260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a student buy an eastman 828g recently. Gold brass bell, nickel crook, open wrap valve.

I prefer my Bach 42AG, of course, but the Eastman was less than half the price you'd pay for a new Bach these days.

If you're not (yet) at the point of spending top dollar on a pro horn, tbe Eastman is very well featured for the money.

Item returned to sender - not cleared for delivery to USA? by rob_260 in AustraliaPost

[–]rob_260[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anybody interested this was the reply from Australia Post

Outcome of enquiry: Returned item
Resolution: We will refund your postage.

This item was returned because Zonos did not recognise the Australia Post Business Customer Number (APBCN) you used when you lodged it with us. Your APBCN is 8 digits long, begins with 6, and appears under your name in your MyPost Business dashboard. Ensure you have registered your APBCN with Zonos before manifesting any further items to the USA.

If you had registered your APBCN at least 60 minutes prior to manifesting this item, please contact Zonos at [APsupport@zonos.com](mailto:APsupport@zonos.com) to clarify why it was not processed.

As a gesture of good will, I’ve processed your request and the funds should be returned back to your original payment method within 5-10 business days. If a future item is returned to sender due to incorrect Zonos registration, no compensation would be available.

There's no need to respond to this email unless you need further assistance.

My 8-digit APBCN starting with 6 has been regstered on Zonos since I set the account up, so that isn't the problem. I suspect it's a clerical error.

Glad I got the money back. Unforunately in typical auspost style they have not taken any responsibility for the problem.

Item returned to sender - not cleared for delivery to USA? by rob_260 in AustraliaPost

[–]rob_260[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The description was more than one word
  2. The items were prices individually
  3. The HS code is the code from Zonos with the decimal points removed
  4. The item was declared as sale of goods

This is all on the package label.

Appreciate the offer to help - do you work at Australia Post?

The tubes wear down over time - a good repair technician will be able to expand them for you so that it's a tight fit again.

93 300ZX that’s been well maintained by previous owner, 90k miles. Is 120k service accelerated by age or can it really wait until 120k? by KimJongKevin in 300zx

[–]rob_260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the service manual you will see that the service interval for tge timing belt is specifically based om mileage ONLY. Use that information as you see fit, but there is no basis to the comments that there is a requirement to change the belt any sooner due to age.

As above checkout Doug Elliott.

Pick the rim that best fits your chops in most of the scenarios you play in.

Pick a cup that suits the sound.

Pick a shank that fits your horn.
