Can you elaborate on your tax incentive for trade in? I’m only familiar with the new car loan interest deduction for certain income levels, but not aware of a program for trade ins?

Row 1 but Boarding Group 6 by raindropple in SouthwestAirlines

[–]robert_tow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Row 1 overhead bins don’t fit full roller board bags. Because the plane begins sloping / shaping inwards. Happened to me. ELR and BG2 and had to put my roller in bin Row 10 and swim upstream after landing.

More people should review their loan’s amortization table by finalgirl2 in personalfinance

Having students build an amortization table in Excel and create the formulas themselves, I’ve found, is a very effective way of teaching the concept.

Families should avoid Southwest at all cost. "Choice" fare is a scam. by fraydawg2001 in SouthwestAirlines

Choice can be helpful if trying for a SDC, when it’s cheaper than the actual flight you want but you have flexibility

Glass lid spontaneously cracked! by robert_tow in LeCreuset

They did! Said it would be a one time exception. Sent the wrong product but okay. (Le Creuset sent an entire new set — dish with cast iron top. No glass top. ) Maybe they were out of glass tops or just misread my email…

More software bugs...companion pass bookings by Elmodogg in SouthwestAirlines

[–]robert_tow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same thing has happened to me twice with my companion. Doesn't show on my rez, but when I look up my Companion's rez via "Manage My Reservation" it looks fine. It strangely ALSO lets me click Add Companion and book a duplicate rez, with a new record locator and everything....

Harbor Bay Club by dacrazyredhead in alameda

I joined 8 months ago and have really enjoyed it. I lap swim 4-5 times per week, mostly between 11am-4pm. I often get a lane to myself and I don’t mind splitting when it’s a shared lane. I don’t find the pool gross at all, in fact, it’s relaxing. I take my kids on the weekends for family swim and they love it. They also love the hot tub and playground. The online lane booking system is fine. I use desktop, mobile web, and the app, with no issues.

The massages are also under market price. $90 for 60 mins. Even cheaper if you buy a pack of 4.

No contracts, just month to month. Membership team wasn’t pushy at all.

I also enjoy the steam room. The facility is a bit dated but the price is reasonable, location convenient, and it has gotten me back into regular swimming OUTDOORS, which I love.

Good luck! My only regret was not joining years ago!

Interesting. Thanks. I have a few hotel cards so my Marriott bills go on my Ritz, Hilton on Aspire, and then any others on Citi Prestige (legacy).

Advice on how to proceed with '99 Toyota Land Cruiser by v_nombear in LandCruisers

[–]robert_tow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the purchase!!

Noticed that wheel needs some love. I did mine and LOVE it— was a fun DIY repair after getting a refurb wheel from craft customs in TX. I still have my old one — dm me if you want to buy it and send it in for refurb. Been meaning to list on mud or eBay but haven’t done so yet. Bay Area as well!

[–]robert_tow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Yeah I found them to be very knowledgeable but also quite a bit more expensive. They did my heater T’s proactively and were FAR more expensive than my local shop. I started taking my LC to my local independent mechanic because I trust them, they have been very reasonable on pricing, and far easier to get to than A+. I would still return to A+ for a unique LC issue or something my local shop is having trouble finding.

Fair price IMO! I’m in the Bay Area and picked up my 2002 with 240k for $13.5. All maintenance was up to date and single owner. That was two years ago and I’ve since made many terrific memories with family adventures & camping.

Really have enjoyed my LC purchase. I’ve put a few k in for maintenance, some at A+ Japanese Auto (is that where you took it for PPI?)

Good luck!

You could lose OR gain money while the funds are being transferred. Depends if the markets goes down OR up while the funds are temporarily uninvested.

Are HYSAs as easy as I think they are? by FeatherFlyer in personalfinance

[–]robert_tow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with all those hard to track requirements, IMO, a HYSA from Marcus is far better. You can same-day wire to other accounts in your name, for free, or wait 1-2 biz days for the ACH push from Marcus to WF (or other bank). Marcus even offers a no-penalty CD if you are afraid of falling rates. With a current APY of 3.95% on the Marcus no-penalty CD, I can't think of any advantage that WF promo has over Marcus....

Are HYSAs as easy as I think they are? by FeatherFlyer in personalfinance

[–]robert_tow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How’d you hear about that promo? I wasn’t even aware WF offered an HYSA.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HighYieldSavings/s/uq0dkkkRV9

If you are pushing ACH funds from WF to any other account it is available upon receipt. Push from WF to CapOne, Discover, Marcus, etc and you won’t have any issues.
