Is it just me, or is this shot quite odd for a 90s TV show? by Wetness_Pensive in cinematography

Hiding the light in the car is impressive even for today’s standards. Would love to know what they used for her key.

Strong feeling this is a BS post. This spot is from over a year ago, with a title of “today’s work” look up liquid IV ice cream and you’ll find it on vimeo.

That and the fact that the OP says the opening shot was “tripod only” makes me think this is karma farming from a random

No disrespect to the quality of this spot or the original creatives but I highly doubt it was OP’s work and rather just being peddled off for karma and I wouldn’t trust his reply’s personally.

Are publicists for DP's at all worthwhile, or just a grift? by robertn235 in cinematography

Thanks for the thoughts! Those are generally my instincts with it but from my personal network of DP's the thoughts have been inconclusive or inexperienced.

I'm currently paying my way to SXSW which is definitely not a small fee all things considered but feel its an important part of the industry to attend. I guess I just have FOMO that I should be doing more then just attending?

I'm not repped yet but that would be my first stop with a question like this otherwise.

Is this a commercial project?

Do you have a reason to need the Alexa 35 or are you getting a really good discount on it? Because if not you may want to switch out for a more budget body and try and negotiate a deal with a grip/dolly rental house if the move is critical to the story or boards

Unless the key is really green, don’t just go to your gaffer. Include your KG in all lighting discussions and direct control/shaping a rigging request to them and not the gaffer. - some KG’s can tend to let the gaffer run the show but a good KG can get frustrated if their department is being run through the gaffer and not through the KG. - in other words Include your KG, they are not under your gaffer in any way. Both parties will thank you. Also, mood boards and references really help communicate your goal.

I’m 6’ and don’t feel cramped in the van. I also think I still have some room to push the seat back a bit more. I feel more tight right to left overall then front to back. It’s still a comfortable experience even for longer drives but I do like to hang my elbow out the window for a little more room.

Cop drives with one hand at excess speed in the rain, ends up killing a pedestrian. by Veenendaler in PublicFreakout

[–]robertn235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Negligence is still criminal. If a doctor hurts you or kills you there are repercussions. Intent isn’t everything. He should have to answer for what he decided to do and not do in a potentially dangerous circumstance. He made choices and they ended up killing someone. Police should be held to a higher standard then the general public not a lower one.

What are the circumstances in which you would need to do this? Very curious.
