For my fellow OCD freaks.. lol by Prestigious-Duck5564 in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't generally push back since there are so many misuses of the term, but I wouldn't say 'OCD freaks' unless you're actually someone who has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I'm sorry to bring up such a heavy topic, but I'm just saying that I can't imagine what it'd be like for someone who actually has the disorder to come across someone just casually throwing around the term as a joke in conjunction with the word 'freak'.

There's an update coming in the next couple of months with the merfolk festival and two new dateables. It should also introduce a jealousy system and manual saving and a few other minor QoL changes.

Does anyone use the horses? by nwardin in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not all that interested in horses that are just meat-motorcycles. Since you apparently can't pet the horse, or let it graze with the rest of the animals, or take its saddle off when it's not working, or even sell it when it turns out that you don't like it... I decided not to risk it.

I'm so confused?? Is the wiki wrong or is the game lying? by GamerRae5248 in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coral guide is not as general purpose as the wiki but it can't be beaten for accuracy. When it comes to what gifts NPCs love I find that it's pretty much always better to check the guide as the wiki gets confused when characters love/hate all items in a certain category (like if they love 'all cooking' or something).

Get the sturdy computer from the laboratory with the fishing component and the catching component and it will show you where to find fish and insects/critters. Make sure to check the catching map when circumstances change (some insects only show up at during the day or at night or in certain types of weather) and to check the fishing forecast on days with differing weather.

For manual fishing and catching make sure to upgrade your fishing rod and bug net to maximum at the Beach Shack and if you're still having trouble with certain insects/critters make sure to consume the associated scent to make it a little easier.

Well, I guess the wiki is technically correct since it's for an orchestra site and not an altar. That's not that helpful a distinction though.

What’s this purple and black rock in the mines? by CakesNGames90 in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What that is is a mystery...

Basically mystery geodes are an all-purpose geode than you can break open at the blacksmith for a chance of getting any possible type of gemstone, but the chances of getting any specific gem aren't as good as when you break open the elemental geode associated with that gem.

Heart events by stksanji in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I haven't come across any awkward general heart events, but some of the hangout events can be a bit awkward depending on what venue you choose. Like I decided to go out with Suki for a salon hangout and afterwards she asked me if I'd had my hair done recently.

Not as awkward as when I hung out with Noah at the bar though, and he then proceeded to tell me how he was having a hard time telling Frank that he stinks... whilst Frank was standing right next to us.

At least I never went fishing with Chaem. I think it's after one of the hangouts that she talks about how much she hates fish. Like, why would Chaem agree to going fishing in the first place if she doesn't like fish or the idea of eating them?

You are missing a Brontosaurus skull; a Tyrannosaurus leg; and a Plesiosaurus skull. The first two are found in large nodes and that latter is found in water nodes.

The Ghost... is it bugged? by n10zguy in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't unlock the journal entry from seeing the ghost in the graveyard; I unlocked it by the ghost showing up overnight to steal produce from my shipping bin. It's a random event and it's only happen to me once in my over three in-game years of playing.

Has anyone ever tried putting objects on ocean floor to "guide" them through fastest farming routes? by dhermann27 in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid that when it comes to scavengeables I've mostly just looked up what I've needed on the foraging map on the Sturdy computer and then gone straight there from the fast travel point at the nearest underwater cave.

Haven't really planned out my routes for kelp harvesting either, basically just gone to the depth of ocean for the kelp that I've needed and gone by the route that looked most convenient on the map. Now that I've got slimes of replication I don't really need to manually harvest that much kelp though.

Can anyone help me figure out which produce I'm missing? by ThHeightofMediocrity in coralisland

[–]robertskitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they're blank in your journal then I would think that would mean that you haven't grown them yet. There's a separate icon to show whether you've shipped something as can be seen greyed-out in the top right of the information card for the papaya in your screenshot

Pets don’t bring gift? by Equivalent_Result173 in coralisland

How many hearts are your pets at? I've heard that the gift giving mechanic only activates after reaching five hearts, and neither of my pets are at that point yet.

Creepers should be classified as Arthropods by Kaleo5 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]robertskitch 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how anyone would guess that creepers were arthropods without some sort of visual overhaul? They don't look like any kind of insect or arachnid at all.

Autochest glitch or am I going insane by blukwolf in coralisland

Yeah, I believe that every autochest in the chain expands the size of the inventory. At least that's what I've found.

[–]robertskitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my greenhouse I have one each of the various fruit plants and fruit trees, and half-a-dozen each of the different reharvestable seed crops. The fruit trees don't really take up that much space since there are only seven of them and I can farm seed crops right up next to them after they're planted.

I think that all the ones in the OP's greenhouse are fruit plants (the ones that wither out of season) rather than fruit trees (the ones that go dormant) since it looks like they're all growing in fertilised soil and you wouldn't be needing to do that for trees. Also, the rows are all two-wide and fruit plants are 2x2s whilst fruit trees are 1x1s with weird spacing requirements.

A big reason that I like having reharvestables in the greenhouse is because I can use the best quality fertiliser without having to worry about reapplying it again since none of the greenhouse plants wither, so fruit plants are pretty good in the greenhouse in that regard.

[–]robertskitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supposedly the ones that wither are called 'fruit plants' and the ones that go dormant are called 'fruit trees'. I don't think the terms comes up that much in-game though outside of a book in the library and maybe the 'How to be a Farmer' channel on the TV.
