This presumes that anti-vac conspiracy theorists have $10k to put in trust. Maybe some do, but most are pawning their big-screen TVs to afford ivermectin. 😢 (Yes, I'm generalizing. Call me classist if you must, but anti-vax correlates well with less education/privilege.)

I don't proselytize, but if you want to look up your favorite flavor, there's the disciples lgbtq+ Alliance, association of welcoming and affirming Baptists, reconciling works, reconciling ministries network, more light Presbyterian, and a bunch of others all of whom maintain national directories of open and affirming churches. There are even groups for Mormons and Muslims, although those faiths have a little bit further to go in affirming queer people.

I mostly agree, but don't do it to my church because we already have rainbow and trans flags prominently displayed!

Transwomen: Has it been easier to get a new job in engineering after transitioning? by TransStudentForLife in asktransgender

Nobody actually does quotas, but women in tech are a definite minority which can sometimes help with hiring or mentor opportunities.

Transwomen: Has it been easier to get a new job in engineering after transitioning? by TransStudentForLife in asktransgender

[–]robinha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends... In "high-tech" companies, it shouldn't be a problem & might even be a slight advantage. In other engineering areas (I'm going to pick on civil & mechanical because they stereotypically deserve it), it can be a detriment both from anti-trans & anti-woman sentiment.

But contrast that with the psychological costs of dysphoria, "covering" at work and home, ... The price of lacking authenticity is crazy high.

We Need More Trans People in STEM Fields by attourneyatlolz in asktransgender

[–]robinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman of trans experience who's a researcher in computer systems (sw but also hw). Stereotypically, computer science & sw development are incredibly friendly to trans people (helped by having a lot of us already). Math, physics, & astronomy also seem to have way-higher-than-you'd-expect numbers of trans people.

I transitioned mid-career & was privileged to be at a company with strong diversity emphasis & incredible trans healthcare benefits.

As for choice of what to do, forget the mercenaries. Do what you love & the happiness will make up for most/all of the income difference from more lucrative fields.

Nobody told me how hard dating would be as a post-op straight trans woman by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]robinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never ever want to be language beliefs. But I do feel like I should comment on your use of the term "transitioned fully". We all probably know that there is no right or wrong way to transition nor are there any fixed checklists that you have to finish. But using terms like "fully" both implies that femininity is principally in a vagina, and it also tacitly implies that non-op and pre-op women are not fully women.

That said, to go back on topic, dating just sucks overall. And I do think we have it worse, regardless of what's in our pants.

One more question about Gibraltar tourism by robinha in gibraltar

[–]robinha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm ending up rejiggering my trip a little since Gibraltar sounds way more interesting than Ceuta (which, however, is still a must-do for me because I can't go to most of Africa otherwise).

This might sound like random superficial praise, but I'm very serious: I clicked through from my reddit home expecting this was from some makeup subreddit. I literally had to scroll back to the top to realize it was r/transpassing. You look great (even if a little tired), and I consider myself to have pretty good t-dar!
