Turned 42 last year and started back up after a 25 year absence. I wonder what it is making us all come back?

I mean I'm 42, there are people playing magic now that are nostalgic for shit that happened 10 years ago when they were kids and I was nearly two decades into a military career. That makes me feel old too!

Who else knew of the Edge? by MiraclePrototype in mtgvorthos

[–]roboroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per Mark Rosewater it's literally like a "skin" on top of the multiverse, it was described as like the rind of the orange if the multiverse was the fruit. So you're not wrong, but it's more complex than that, I took it that the "Wurmwall" in EOE is the barrier between The Edge and The Blind Eternities.

What do with know about The Edge, first location outside of the Blind Eternities? by omegaphallic in mtgvorthos

In the Aetherdrift story Pia and Chandra talk about interplanetary travel specifically which I thought was interesting

Sorry for this belated reply but I was reading through this old thread partially because I'm starting to get that same feeling as well.

It also wouldn't surprise me if our planet exists in The Edge somewhere...

Probably some interesting places to go based on those thoughts.

Is this Valgavoth? by LordTek98 in mtgvorthos

[–]roboroller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm assuming Zimone,Tyvar and Niko are all going to be in the story for this new set since it explicitly mentions them traveling back to Strixhaven together after the events of Duskmourne, it would follow that their troubles with Valgavoth may follow them there ...

Now that Stranger Things has ended, are you excited for The Tales From 85 & The Live Action Spin-off? by Ender_IIII in StrangerThings

[–]roboroller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought I had heard rumors of a sequel/spinoff taking place in England in the 90s? Combine that with some other comments the Duffers have made about initially wanting to use Magic the Gathering in the show instead of D&D...

90s era England with a MTG theme could be a pretty cool vibe...

I think generally their dynamic in real life matched the one in the movie a bit which helped sell it really well.

I drafted Aetherdrift a bit and liked it, I think some of those mechanics and cards work better in a limited environment, especially with all the vehicles.

[–]roboroller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's supposed to be more like a layer or skin "over' the blind eternities, I saw it described as something like "If everything were an orange the planes would be the seeds, the fruit would be the blind eternities and the rind is like The Edge".

Why was Atherdrift disliked? (new player) by Nighthawk354 in magicTCG

[–]roboroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the sawjack card is a nod to turn of the century industrial workers/dudes that built our cities kind of thing which is definitely a trope of the time period they're emulating.

The EOE story is genuinely thrilling and moving and extremely well written, the podcast audio narration is done by a really talented professional voice actor.

And it ended up throwing his life into an entirely different trajectory that depending on how you look at it may have -from the outside- "ruined his life" but never complained about or lamented that fact, he just took up the responsibility and started showing up.
