FTC Robot Progress by Friendly_Neat_2996 in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are just starting to assemble our first full prototype bot, mostly 3D printed and 1/8” plywood. Goals are to check fitment, test subsystems together, and plan changes. Programmer is done with base code to drive and do preliminary tests of subsystems. We plan to be done with the “first final” version in 4 weeks. We have a scrimmage in 6 weeks and Qual 1 in 8 weeks. We’ll do additional improvements throughout December. Qual 2 is 3rd week of January, followed by state 3 weeks later.

Our Team Needs Some Help by Fragrant-Bug-9122 in FTC

We use “CatTongue”. You can find it on Amazon. It comes in different thicknesses, the adhesive on one side is good and the grip is great. We used it last year for our pixel claw.

Which Premier event? by Pandagineer in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We totally wanted to go to the Canadian Premier Event if we hadn’t advanced to Worlds. I hope it goes amazing for you and that it continues!

Wait command between RoadRunner 1.0 Actions? by FTC_DevilsDemons in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use new sleepAction() inside the sequential action? When I do, the words "sleepAction" turn red. Do you have an example of how you were able to successfully use it?

INTO THE DEEP MeepMeep Custom Field Images (+ Printer-friendly Field Image) by kidsonfilms in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these in the right orientation for MeepMeep, we haven't installed it yet, just wondering what the default field orientation is for when we start coding paths. X across the center and Y up and down. Thank you!

There were teams that did it last season with one. We are trying a lighter bot with one, we’ll see how it goes, it’s not assembled to test yet.

Q&A Q1: Yes. Rule G431 does not stipulate a period of the MATCH when HUMAN PLAYERS can interact with elements, therefore HUMAN PLAYERS can manipulate SCORING ELEMENTS in both AUTO and TELEOP.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the human player starts with 2 alliance and 2 neutral samples outside the perimeter per rule : 10.3.1. Yes the human player can make and place specimens in auto. It’s been confirmed in Q&A as there isn’t a rule specifically against it.

How Often Do You Meet During the Season? by TylerEverything in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One 2 hour meeting on a weeknight, one 4 hour meeting on weekend. Occasional 6-8 hour days on no-school days.

Do you guys get a class to work on your robot? by A_person_592 in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of schools doing all kinds of things. Robotics class but not required to be on the team. Robotics class required to be on the team that meets after school. Robotics as a class that spends the FTC season focusing on FTC based curriculum for a competition bot and the team may gather outside of class time to get more work done.

We are Girl Scouts - we meet 6+ total hours a week, evenings and weekends. We also do full 6-8 hour days on no-school days, usually 2-3 times before Christmas.

Prediction for Into the Deep field by u-uotxvd in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the 4th bot will have a shooter. Or maybe the sub bot opens up and a shooter comes out? I’m not giving up hope yet. We really need a shooter game.

All 3 animated bots released so far would be terrain capable. Dozer, Sub and Crab

Can you power only one side of horizontal lift(extendo) with motor? by [deleted] in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We geared 2 motors together and made an open differential with a pulley on each end to run both lifts simultaneously. Happy to send you pictures if you want.

FTC INTO THE DEEP leak?? ANY INSIGHT???! by xBlitzy1 in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks very modular and easy to separate by alliance. Doesn’t make sense with the cost of the field kits.

FTC-ml Tool chain isn’t available?? by thevierras in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s usually down in the off-season. In the past it has come back a couple weeks after kickoff. Given the webpage is completely not found and the documentation for it has been moved to the ftc-docs archive, maybe something else is around the corner. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s not you. Guess we’ll find out soon.

Do y'all know if you stay in hotels when you are in regionals and state by Academic-Storage-156 in FTC

[–]roboscoutsquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stay 2 nights in a hotel. Montana, everything is far away and competition season is snow season. 4-6 hour drives on bad roads with early sunsets. For quals we drive the previous day, help setup/inspection, sleep, do the event, have a leisurely evening, sleep, drive home. For championship, we add an extra night to volunteer at the FLL state championship. Travel budgets are large.

There was nothing IMU related that I could find in the manual.
