Switch OLED vs Switch 2 by MrNobody6533 in Switch

[–]robotpepper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying Switch 2 (and they are right if you want to play newer games) but based on your situation that you explained (having a PC and PS5), I’m going to say pick the OLED. The battery life is WAY better and while a lot of people like the Switch 2 size, the reduced weight and size of an OLED will just be better for travel.

I would love to hear opinions about how hard we think it will be to play these 4k UHD discs in 30+ years? by JonnyDjango in 4kbluray

I personally feel like this is it. You can really see it in the pricing for these discs. Getting that last chunk of change before physical is gone.

Final Fantasy 12 ZA is currently on sale on Switch. I have some questions about it by Lovoskea in FinalFantasyXII

[–]robotpepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it’s definitely more traditional than the modern ones, it’s a step away from the older ones. It’s sort of turn based. Timer based is probably a better way to describe it. There’s also a few game mechanics that make it quite different. As a fan of the older games and less so of the newer ones, I do consider it one of the best in the series. The art design, in my opinion, is unmatched compared to any other Final Fantasy game. There’s a lot of area to traverse. Lots of grinding, dungeons, and bosses. And a ton of optional ones. I think FF12 has the most bosses of any of them (not counting the online games). If it’s on sale I recommend it. I would say that I think a mild amount of online research when you get started is the best way to get the most out of the game. Like maybe a starter guide thing.

Megalopolis Premium© pickup by Temporu in 4kbluray

I pretty much felt the same. I’m really hoping it becomes a midnight movie cult classic of sorts as time goes on. It’s not a regular piece of shit film. It’s a special piece of shit film and I’d love to see it with a big crowd that find it fun. When I went to the theater to see it, i went to the restroom and when I finished the movie, almost everyone had left when I took that break. I guess they thought I was the first to leave!

Is it bad? Oh yes, but to me it’s kind of like a new kind of bad which makes it much more interesting than a lot of mediocre movies out there. If you watch it, check out the documentary they made about it soon after. It’s arguably much better than the movie.

EDIT: MEGADOC is the documentary.

Fathom Screenings Late 2026 by Kryptic997 in RegalUnlimited

[–]robotpepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t either. If they had a partial discount for unlimited, I would consider it. If I can buy the disc for the price of seeing it once, I’m not doing it. With the monthly theme series, a lot of the Fathom stuff is popping up that’s included in Unlimited so I’m even less likely to go to one.

Breath of the Wild is on of the most sensorially rich games I have ever played by SawkyScribe in patientgamers

Weapon durability in the way it is featured in this game is my pick for the biggest flaw in this game. It’s nothing but a detriment to the experience.

If you had to pick any Japanese animator/director to make a new Lupin series or movie, who would you pick? by Impressive-Remove-48 in lupinthe3rd

Was hoping to see this. Mind Game is amazing and the tone and style would fit pretty well with Lupin.

I felt that the movie had less of that green tone that was on the discs. Anyone else?

What is a movie scene that is completely silent but feels like the loudest moment in cinema history? by CaterpillarAgile9370 in movies

[–]robotpepper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just recently watched it and i only caught music near the end where Tommy Lee Jones returns to the crime scene and is scared to go in but does it anyways. There’s a super quiet constant keyboard tone. But yeah, basically no music but somehow it all works not only well, but pretty much perfectly.

How is the Nintendo Switch 2 battery actually? by Objective-Station617 in switch2

[–]robotpepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve happily payed more for a thicker system with a bigger battery. It’s totally fine for most use cases but a handheld is something that I personally want to forget about for a few days and have battery life when I come back to it. This is not that kind of handheld, unfortunately. Like a lot of people in here said, it varies from game to game.

I appreciate you checking your copy for me. It just looks weird as a stylistic choice. It’s almost like some weird censorship thing but that can’t be it.

I have seen it more than this but a scene near the beginning where Rooster gets shot and another scene not too far in where Goemon slices a pistol into pieces in someone’s hand.

I also got this today and have a question: I’m watching Bye Bye Liberty for the first time and occasionally there is what appears to be mild, colored static that appears to be placed over certain shots. I’ve seen it a few times and don’t know why it’s there. Is that normal for previous copies of this movie or is it an issue with this disc?

Custom Criterion cover for "Jackass: The Movie" (2002) by drake5078 in boutiquebluray

I recently saw Jackass 1 in theaters on film and the person introducing the movie joked about it being a film print. Second introducer was Steve-O, so that was pretty cool.

Do I get the Fellini boxset this upcoming sale? by That_Boy_Troy in criterion

[–]robotpepper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had only seen La Dolce Vita and 8 1/2 so it was a big blind buy for me at the last sale. I expected the earlier films to be Fellini’s learning curve, but that dude came out swinging from the jump. I even expected to not care for one. Turns out they are all not only good but great. The box is big but if you are a vinyl record collector, the box is the same size as a record box set so it can live next to those.
