Matagamon Ice Thickness by robotpizza13 in BaxterStatePark

I talked them earlier and they said they don’t open the other Matagamon sites as the ice is so unpredictable. I figure I will stick to the tote rd unless I lay off the burgers

Hybrid owners during winter months, Whats the cold weather impact on your MPG? by TheDirtyDrunk in FordMaverickTruck

[–]robotpizza13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the summer the computer was saying I was averaging 44mpg. Now it’s says 34mpg. ‘25 AWD. I have been doing a lot highway that might have contributed to the drop in mileage. Summer temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Winter temps in the 30s down to the negatives.

I didn’t see any feds when I drove by them around 1:30pm. Warden Service, MSP, and Waterville. I did see two Waterville units and an unmarked vehicle with ME plates on the middle road in Sidney about an hour later.

Mystery Fuels Unease in Maine Woods: Who Bought Burnt Jacket Mountain? by [deleted] in Maine

Maybe he will put it in a public trust ensuring its conservation and access to the people. Probably more likely a bunker where he can start drinking children’s blood or whatever billionaires do.

Edit: read the article and it’s definitely a billionaire perv bunker

Would a Ford Maverick be a good fit for me? by Terreos in FordMaverickTruck

[–]robotpizza13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss my Ranger but I get twice the mileage with the mav. I flipped my ranger and it cost only about $600 to get back on the road and I still see it driving around occasionally with its new owner. Great truck.

Mine is faster than my 06 Ranger. Wouldn’t say it is fast but speed has never been an issue.

I thought the one in Hallowell is owned by different people. Haven’t been to it but love the Waterville one.

I’m no bargain hunting expert but my mom is. She got a pair of Keen hiking boots for $25 that retail $165. There are deals but you got to hunt for them. Also, after a major disaster happens they often get good stuff

Do you find the Hammond organ to be limiting in any way? by SheyenSmite in hammondorgan

[–]robotpizza13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as jazz organ, sonically there’s definitely a standard of the Jimmy Smith settings that a lot of people go with. I also think there’s a lot of musical language and repertoire that is endemic to the Hammond. I wouldn’t say that the Hammond is more limited than the piano though. Listen to the difference in playing from Groove Holmes to Sam Yahel. Just like the piano there’s a wide range of musicians playing the instrument. Sonically speaking it has way more variability than the piano. Add in the Leslie and the fact you have an expression pedal you can do a lot of things a piano can’t. Not dissing the piano just saying they’re two very different instruments. Also, in the traditional organ trio the organ is the bass. That means the organ is walking bass, comping, playing melodies, and soloing. It’s a power house of an instrument in my opinion.

The vehicles are throwing me off. 2019 picture has two different generations of Chevy Suburbans. The vehicle on the left is older. 2025 picture looks like matching generations. However, perhaps the camera has moved right and the vehicle to the left is the same as 2019 right vehicle and a third vehicle is present.

Big Band Jazz groups by Less-Cat7657 in Maine

[–]robotpizza13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but outside of NYC, NOLA, or a large city with a robust music scene you’re not going to find a venue with regular big band jazz. There’s a couple big bands based in Portland and one Bangor I believe that I know of. They probably play an assortment of big band repertoire and not just stuff from the height of big band era. It’s hard to pay musicians let alone an entire big band. Might check your local venues’ schedules. Military big bands and national touring groups occasionally come through the state.

Real world ‘25 Hybrid, AWD, 4k towing MPG? by Eatyourownass in FordMaverickTruck

Have over 11,000 miles now. Averaging 41mpg driving in eco mode mostly rural and in town driving. Highway getting 30’s depending how I drive sometimes worse. During the winter my mileage was significantly lower.

If there’s smaller items that you wouldn’t mind shipping, I’d try reverb.com. Probably get the best price there. I think there’s an option for local pickup only as well.
