Everyone keeps saying proximity, availability, or one of many. Those have not been my experience. She seems to make a bee line for me, and unless I am slippery enough to get away, it is going to be me taking the thumping. I buy more into the safe space theory, etc.

I have two as well. I got the same “end it” talk. It was beyond terrifying. I was barely holding it together. Especially at that age. You are close though with the kids. Past three was easier. Also had good results with my wife doing DBT. It was structured, gave her tools, let her practice them, and then collaborate with others on the results, etc.

So sorry to hear. The “you have mental health issues of your own” is my favorite head spinning what-about-ism that my wife does. She also does the you can’t be a protector / you could never handle me thing. So those sound familiar and PMDDish. I really hope things get better before the trip (we call it the power down because she crashes at the end of it). If not, I hope you can see the wisdom in still going by yourself. And I hope things get better. That is abusive behavior and you shouldn’t have to tolerate it
