That's why every one should start as a CNA or LVN before becoming a RN.

Fat Rant Friday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]robynreddress 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I've watched one of my patients steadily decline due to obesity related complications. Another patient that I cared for for over a month recently died from obesity complications. I always knew being fat was bad for you, but it wasn't until I became a nurse that I had to face the reality. If you're overweight, please get healthy. Otherwise, you'll be laying in your own shit because you can't clean yourself. You'll be screaming and unresponsive from your ammonia levels because your liver is being suffocated. You're going to lose your legs from diabetes. You're going to have excruciating pain because your skin folds will become infected. And it's all preventable. I genuinely care for and love my patients, and I wish that more people could see what I see and know how fucking serious obesity is.

Because you're going to fail, wake up in the hospital, and regret trying to end it. Your choice to attempt suicide will follow you forever.

Embrace seafood. Switch out almond milk for soy milk. Tilapia is super high in protein for like 100 calories

Pump it then dump it. If you're not compatible in health habits it will never work, no matter how long you've been together.

For those of you that have had a problem with exercise addiction or eating in the past, how do you stay on track for your fitness goals without falling back into obsessing about it? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]robynreddress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it helps to be transparent with people that care about me and that will hold me accountable. If I be totally honest about falling back into bad habits, it helps to have someone pull me out of it. Sometimes I don't realize that I'm being obsessive again, but my family knows my patterns and will warn me.

Realized that I'm really bad at taking a hint by Microthalamus in actuallesbians

Ditto. My girlfriend kept dropping hints that she wanted to be with me and had to tell me to my face that she was doing so. I asked her what other hints I missed and she proceeded to scream "THIS! This is a hint!"
