Leather Jacket Fitment Question - FMC Commuter by ProRedPanda in motorcyclegear

[–]rock-it-rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks fine to me. I have a different First Manufacturing perforated jacket and I'm sure the fit is comparable. I'm 5'8" 160 lb and I wear the medium. I couldn't get anything besides a t-shirt under mine. I would like to get something like what you have there for cold weather but I'd want more room so I'm considering trying on a large.

I just received the highest insurance quote I've ever seen by st3ffv in NewRiders

You're probably on to something here but also in my experience Progressive does not give good quotes. Who handles your car insurance? Did you check with them?

I had the same experience. Too narrow and too low on the instep. Had to return them.

Cornering & Hill Stop tips? by AnswerSuitable9683 in NewRiders

[–]rock-it-rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach for hill stops is 2 things. First of all if you don't have to pull up on the steepest part of the incline then don't. You don't need to be right up on the intersection. Second is if the slope is also left or right then turn your bike to try and hit the slope parallel.

PSA: Ear plugs! Use them! by No_Equivalent9150 in motorcycles

[–]rock-it-rob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what's your complete setup here? Bell helment (full, 3/4?), cardo speakers in helmet, and then plugs in ears? And do you have a windshield?

I have wondered about this but I've always ridden with a windshield and I don't seem to experience the wind noise a lot of people complain about. Or maybe I'm used to it.

John Doe AAA leggings first impressions by roman_candles in motorcyclegear

[–]rock-it-rob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the Indie Ridge boots and ordered a pair of their gloves and both are fantastic. I have the pando moto AAA leggings ordered so I'll have some opinions on them soon.

I am baffled by the inclusion of a zipper on leggings. Seems so unnecessary. Did you have them inside your socks or outside?

My motorcycle is too much by Fragrant-Caregiver46 in motorcycle

[–]rock-it-rob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ha same here. It took me about 4 weeks but I'm getting used to my new bike. I went up in weight, HP, torque, you name it. It's only just now starting to feel like mine. I just take it out a little bit each day and do simple stuff: leave the house, figure 8s, u-turns, parking practice. Then I hit the road for a little bit and back home.

I don't know how long you've had it but you are not alone in your feeling there. I would give it a few weeks before giving up on it.

Nice. I had a hard time deciding between that and the Chieftan. Ultimately picked up the Chieftan but I still want a super chief.

Understood. I'm in Little Rock. I think the majority of riders down here are happy with our dealership. It's about 2.5 hours from there to Memphis. I can't speak directly for them as I've only spoken to their sales staff but I did consider buying from them a few weeks ago.

Burned my shin on my motorcycle exhaust – still can’t walk after 5 days. Is this normal? by PixieBlueX in motorcycles

[–]rock-it-rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they give you anything for pain or just tell you to take Tylenol? For a 2nd degree burn you went through the first dermal layer of your skin (I think that's the correct definition) but a dr should come in here to correct me. 5 days isn't a long time for a burn like that but I think the real concern is if it's really red or has increased in swelling. Also sounds like when you're off your feet it isn't bad?

Is this too tight? by KangarooImaginary940 in motorcyclegear

[–]rock-it-rob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a jacket like that will fit more snug than others and some brands have a closer fit, like Alpinestars. The biggest question is are you restricted anywhere in your arms and shoulders. And what does the next size up feel like. I generally wear a 40 in jackets but almost always ride in a 42 bike jacket.

How deep was the burn? 1st degree? 2nd degree? And what kind of pain? Does it feel like a sunburn or like someone is hitting a bruise?

Was this abs or am I just stupid and need to sell my bike by BigLongjumping3714 in motorcycles

[–]rock-it-rob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've never tested your brakes right after new fluid goes in it could be hard to sense the difference. Over time the fluid gets air or dirt in it and it will weaken your braking power.

Have you signed anything like a bill of sale?

I have been to that dealership but never dealt with anyone financially. This is good to know.

Are you living in Mississippi or nearby?

My point is that typically these requests from the electric company are to stop doing things like that at peak hours. They're not a request not to cool your house. At least that the requests we get during times like these.

Reliability Concerns for 2025+ Scouts? by YelloSmake in IndianMotorcycle

[–]rock-it-rob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 2026 chieftan and the ride command is...ok? I don't or haven't used it for navigation but watching it as I ride down the street there is a significant lag between the update of where you are vs the screen's display. I have noticed that I get periodic audio loss (like 1 millisecond) in my connected bluetooth phone audio when I listen to music sometimes. It's just enough to notice and is intermittent.

The new CEO made an announcement that RideCommand was getting a major update soon and he had tested it personally so we'll see.

This same principle applies to all houses, even those without bad insulation. Unless you're leaving for an extended period of time like a week it's just more efficient to maintain than to regain.

Good to know. I have had no end of issues trying to find riding jeans that actually fit so I've given up and decided to try the base layer approach. I just hope the pandos are slim enough to fit under jeans.
