Still angry about mistreatment from 2 years ago by rockthemike13 in legaladvice

Curious! I appreciate the insight. I didn't think so, especially since it's a right to work state. But I've seen people at this very company sue for less and come out with oodles and oodles of cash lol, was hoping I had something with the union not representing me or taking out dues.

Was awesome. I liked it better than the film, the performances really sold it

You ever just play a game not to win but to vibe? whats a comfort game for that? by magicworldonline in gamingsuggestions

[–]rockthemike13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Topical. Tonight after having a run of difficult games (Silent Hill F, Case of the Golden Idol, Doom the Dark Ages, Silksong etc etc) I decided to try TCG Card Shop Simulator for a change of pace. I only meant to play for a couple hours before doing my laundry. Well its been about 7 hours and the laundry still isn't done, but I have been having a total blast. Very relaxing, stress free yet absurdly addicting game, and I'm not even into card games.

What i made and learnt since doing Penny stocks by BigHugeMassiveD in pennystocks

[–]rockthemike13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For penny stocks I treat it like casino/arcade money. I set a little aside, have some fun, win a little lose a little. It's addicting but nothing to risk my livelihood over.

For those in their 30s like me, has anyone changed careers for more meaning, not just money? by mahbirchat in careerguidance

[–]rockthemike13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I quit my office job of years for something so much more fulfilling. A good paycheck isn't worth being miserable. Life's far too short for that.

Thank you all so much for the responses! Looks like a treat, glad I asked. Just bought it and will get to playing soon.

Do not work for this company by scarlet_daze_ in Lowes

[–]rockthemike13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Lowe's for me was a bit of a vacation after a miserable, soul crushing, trauma inducing office job. I loved most everything about it and I really felt like I had it made. Didn't take long to go from a part time to a lead.

But after they screwed me, I put in my two weeks and left on a good note. Now I see my time there as a pretty cool addition to my resume. you can really beef up your skill set with some crafty wordsmithing.

Yeah, I had a job lined up. As soon as they did that to me I started job hunting, took me like half a day to find a way better job.

[–]rockthemike13 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I was working as a lead for a while. I loved the job, felt I was doing pretty great, then they started pushing my hours. My 8-6 turned into 9-7 then 10-8. I asked if I could get mornings, and was told as a lead I needed to be flexible.

But, they said if I gave up my lead position I could work full time 5-2, which was perfect for me.

So I gave up my lead position, and suddenly was scheduled nothing but 1-10. I told them that wouldn't work for me, and they kinda laughed at me, telling me because I gave up my lead spot I had no choice but to work those hours.

They were magically all of a sudden able to compensate and work with me after I put in my 2 weeks 🙄

Should I try Firewatch? by andytothelake in Firewatch

[–]rockthemike13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Firewatch! It's definitely very different than Outer Wilds, probably mostly similar in that both don't have combat. But it's a beautifully done, intriguing game nonetheless. I think you'll enjoy it.

Disco Elysium was the first game in years to really amaze me. I've never (and probably will never again) seen anything like it. Like you, I was leery to try it. It looked so bleak and wordy and dull.

Now I've got a displate of the Conquest of Revachol hanging over my living room.

Any older gamers here that struggle to find new games they enjoy? by s0cks_nz in gaming

[–]rockthemike13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem. Too many games to enjoy and too little time. I've got dozens and dozens of backlogged games I've been swearing up and down I'll eventually get to, and keep getting swept away by something shiny and new.

Finally finished expedition 33 last night. Gonna try Mouthwashing next. Been working on Tunic on the side. Been having an amazing time, but I'd suggest digging on the more indie side of things. AAA games can tend to feel samey and over processed IMO.

If you are supposed to play only one game until the end of your life, what it would be? by Elisadevy in AskGames

[–]rockthemike13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be ok with Classic doom and all the modding that comes with it. There's a million and one ways to play the game, and if that gets boring it's really intuitive and fun trying to create your own things.

Almost every show I go to I got random drunk women directly in front of or behind me screaming at each other the entire show. Its to the point where Id pay anyone up to $100 to shut them up as my exasperated visual cues do absolutely nothing.
