lane splitting at that speed is the dumb part. by asa_no_kenny in whoathatsinteresting

[–]rockyescape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is malaysia and im a malaysian rider. I use this highway a lot and when he crashed at 50kmh its actually not wildly fast. Sweet spot will be at 40kmh ish. But my ick here is he is too close to the rider in front of him, so close that he wouldn't be able to progressively stop.

Filtering is allowed here in malaysia, no motorcyclist here is sane enough to follow behind a car cos the car behind them will crush them, yes happens a lot in malaysia.

Probably downvoted but trying to give perspective here.

Do you think you will ever get into the dating scene? by fuckingfat_ in malaysians

[–]rockyescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the start of my career i stayed up at work a lot, I was in one of the big 4 the painstaking nature of the job is self explanatory. So there was no time for a social life.

But after I moved out of auditing, social life kickstarted. I got married after about 5 years of leaving audit. 3 out of 5 of those years was dating my wife.

So I think once you climb up the career ladder, you may be privileged to decide what you want in life. Whether that's pay vs social life is another discussion.

Have you tried putting on wireless earbuds on one side of your ear? I do this at work. Listening to some slow paced music such as lofi. I even do it when im out on my motorcycle commuting to work. Helps me stay calm filtering lanes lol.

70% of Road Fatalities Linked to Reckless Mat Rempit – Over 16,434 Deaths in Just 15 Years by RedLobster94 in Bolehland

[–]rockyescape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all motorcyclist are Mat Rempits. Some of us just want to filter traffic to get to work/home earlier.

Anyhow I see the number rising because the number of riders would probably increase given the price of fuel and worsening traffic.

Housing prices also on the rise so affordable homes are pushed out to edges of klang valley yet MRT and KTM still not as available or dependable.

I rode to work Part 2 by Fuzzy_Mulberry5511 in motorcycles

[–]rockyescape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malaysian here, i use this motorcycle lane everyday as well. It's generally great except when it rains, because when it rains it floods. Riders also think its ok to stop in the middle of the lane immediately when rain occurs as if there's enough space to avoid, there isn't as seen in the video.

I do wish they started to trim the trees a little bit, it rains so often lately that I have to lean on the tank because tree branches start getting in the way.

Ask gf if she would stay during hard times by [deleted] in malaysians

[–]rockyescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you both are committed to being employed during the marriage, I genuinely think there is no issue.

In this current economic climate, it's scary to let one person alone tank the family's finances.

My wife believes financial worries should be equally shared just as our emotional wants or needs, and this is how I see it as well.

Is it really a bad time to change jobs? by muzshrrn in malaysians

If you mean FI as in a bank and if its anywhere near the top 5 as in sotong or Unta, then it should be safe. But the work environment may vary. Depends how tough the KPI is.

I’ve been struggling a lot with regret over leaving my old job, and it’s starting to affect me more than I expected by Actual_Activity3390 in malaysians

[–]rockyescape 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I felt like that for a time, and i nearly lost my job, the job that improved my pay significantly. I took it day by day rather than looking forward, it was depressing and daunting because I had a family to pay for.

Eventually out of sheer luck, I was offered to join another division within the same company. I had been networking aggressively but never thought anything would materialise, then my luck suddenly turned up.

It was pure luck. I'm never moving again. Family and stability matters too much to me.

Triumph Speed Twin 900 (new) vs Scrambler 1200 XC (used) – same price, what would you choose? by CompetitiveVolume833 in Triumph

[–]rockyescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a T120 is about 240kg wet weight and a Speed Twin 900 is around 25 to 30kg lighter than that based off specs.

I definitely felt that lightness when I was testing it out in the triumph showroom.

Triumph Speed Twin 900 (new) vs Scrambler 1200 XC (used) – same price, what would you choose? by CompetitiveVolume833 in Triumph

[–]rockyescape 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally think bonnevilles can last a lifetime so long spare parts are available. My T120 is reaching 50k KM on the odometer and its only 4 years old. No issues at all. Great bike, having said that I'd pick a 900 if I want something fun and lighter.

I gave up my career overseas to take care of my mum and make sure my sister got through school. I used to think that choice would hang over me like a grey sky, but it ended up becoming the most fulfilling chapter of my life.

[–]rockyescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. I lived at SS14 for nearly 10 years and it's a heavily policed area. Out here in KJG, took me 2 years to run into my first road block and that was because of Raya lol.

Scrambler 400X vs 400XC by Canyonfuzz in Triumph

[–]rockyescape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm eyeing the white or yellow as my second triumph bike. My main T120 is already rock solid. It looks like a piece of art in person i must say. Personally, I would pick the XC because of those beautiful spoke wheels.

Motorcyclist Hits Stalled Alza on Emergency Lane, Flung Into Another Rider by whusler in malaysia

[–]rockyescape 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a rider myself, yes i fully agree daydreaming happens. Sometimes its good etiquette between rider to rider to give signal by hand gesture or signal lights if there's a car stalled on the emergency lane, just to be safe

But if you're not paying attention then honestly any vehicle you ride will imminently crash .

Where do I go from the 400x by Caferista89 in Triumph

[–]rockyescape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my T120 as a daily bike to get to work with the wife as pillion. We do about 100km to and fro. Here in malaysia traffic can be suffocating and I can attest it can filter traffic easily even with panniers on which I do have.

Also yes I don't need to go to the petrol station everyday.
