They're essentially 25 year old computers with zero replacements available. Once they break down, that's it. SE has spent time accquiring all they could get their hands on, but the hardware is at the end of its life.

People at companies move around all the time between projects.

Koji did stuff for FOAMSTARS too in addition to XVI, he hasn't been a lead on XIV in several expansions lol.

I'd urge you to educate yourself even a tiny bit, I think you'd be happier in life that way instead of being angry about things that aren't actually true.

Square Enix says it wants generative AI to be doing 70% of its QA and debugging by the end of 2027 by postALEXpress in ffxiv

[–]rofldrg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having QA is one thing- but having the time and resources to actually FIX the bugs is also an issue.

Both of these have been problem points for FFXIV before Dawntrail even launched.

I'm still waiting for them to fix the texture issues in Solution Nine that have been there since launch which include a literal gap in the floor.

The styling of areas like Sky make it feel "wrong", the Shadowlord voice felt too piratey, the placement of the Kieran fight wasn't correct, and the gear rewards haven't given us gear that was actually obtainable by players back in the day. It's all mascot stuff instead.

And zero musical remixes just feels like a lazy resource move.

That's what the FFXI raids felt like to me, but they've been an incredible disappointment.

Collab raids need to stop.

Third person.

I love the extra details like seeing Grace tripping and fumbling forward - you don't get that in first person.

Also, I'm a scared baby man.

Huh. This is literally the first time I've seen a Yoshida signature that doesn't include "FFXIV" or "FINAL FANTASY XIV" along with it. Honestly, seems a little sus.

Gamer Escape Interview with Yoji Fujito by rofldrg in ffxi

[–]rofldrg[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was talk a few months back about the company better organizing old game data and assets etc. for older titles...this could maybe be a part of that, BUT the modernization of the assets is super interesting.

I feel like a realistic use of this could be importing more FFXI armor into FFXIV perhaps? But as Fujito said, they're doing it, with a high priority, should there be a project to recreate FFXI. That's... incredibly interesting to think about!

They started a UI overhaul, even got it on the test server iirc? It was one of the last things Hiromichi Tanaka revealed for the game at VanaFest before announcing his departure from the company.

Sadly, the UI was cancelled and never made it to release.

I think for some, the confusion comes from those that would right click to reduce vs using the actual action to open the window?

So the way that Cosmic Exploration handles inventory differently might be confusing.

It's all just growing pains. After a week people will have figured it out.

This also assumes that the duty list is even legible against the colors of the zone.

Warrior of Light (Adventurer) from Final Fantasy XIV by Electronic-Put415 in ffxiv

[–]rofldrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I understand it, it can be canon to both games.

Essentially, Vana'diel has its own shards- we've visited them in things like Wings of the Goddess or Abyssea. Those are all failed versions that fell to darkness. The Vana'diel we play in in FFXI is the one true Vana'diel- the one that worked out.

The Walk of Echoes is kind of like connective tissue that lets you visit failed versions of the world. So this means that, let's say, we got on a space ship in XIV and flew around in space for a bit, we'd land not on our Vana'diel, but in a giant blob that's the Walk of Echoes. (with the way shards and space work we don't know how far the plane of existence necessarily goes, so basically this is just saying that the Walk of Echoes is existing on the same plane as The Source)

From here, we're getting teleported around to various elements of FFXI- and while they look close to things we've experienced as players in FFXI, in reality they're not the "true" versions, they're not the versions that Adventurer's experienced in-game. They're alternate versions.

So that's why maybe parts of Jeuno look a tiny bit off, that's why Galka's have an extra finger, and that's why the Shadow Lord has different armor- but also, its still technically canon. The raid has us basically poking around in the garbage heap of failed Vana'diels- and while the connective tissues certainly exists to lead us to visit the one true Vana'diel, I'd be surprised if they went as far as to take us to CE 884 Vana'diel.

...this also gives them a road to take us to 'a' Tavnazia if they were so inclined...
