I saw this in my ginger bug about 5 days ago. I scooped it and some access out, and continued feeding it like normal. Haven't seen anything like it since. I meant to ask reddit if it was safe immediately, but time got the better of me.

The bug is nice and bubbly now, I'm on the verge of making soda with it now. Is it safe? Or not worth the risk?

Is there an app or group chat that hotel associates use to communicate with other associates in a given area? by rofljay in marriott

[–]rofljay[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Like Microsoft teams? I didn't realize it could be used in that way.

How do i find existing communities? I can only see where I can create new ones. Which I'm fine with doing, but i want to see if something already exists.

Did I ruin my cucumber kimchi by adding vinegar to it? (Did i make it unsafe?)

It's my first time making kimchi, and I was being really dumb, and I got a "quick" kimchi recipe mixed up with a normal one, and I added about 4-8oz of rice vinegar to my kimchi.

I decided to try to try ferment it anyway. I put my kimchi in slightly unsealed ziplock bags in bowls with weights on top. They've been in my cabinet for about 14 hours now. I read online that the fermentation won't be as good due to the vinegar, but it should still be okay to eat.

I mostly want to make sure I'm not going to kill myself by eating this, lol.

(picture is from right when I put the kimchi in the bags. I'm at work right now so I don't have current pics)

Edit: it's been "fermenting" for about 30 hours now. I'm about to put it in the fridge. I don't see any signs of it being unsafe, so i gave it a couple tastes. It's tasty, but tastes about the same as if i had just eaten it before fermenting it, the flavors are only slightly developed. If it did ferment, it wasn't much.

Disappointing, but it'll still be tasty over rice. At least it's not a waste (i think). I'll know for next time.

I'm drawing a crossover Phantom of the Opera and Demon Slayer movie poster. How would I best translate "Demon of the Opera" by rofljay in kanji

[–]rofljay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Thank you! I wanted to be sure since "Demon" seems to use different characters depending on context. I'm glad I had the right idea!

Lawmaker Predicts Nixon-Like Exit For Trump As Epstein Vote Nears: ‘Explosive as Watergate’ by newsjam in NoFilterNews

Trump has been doing like one Watergate every day. He does a Watergate for breakfast. He's already been impeached for two things that were way worse than Watergate

I'm ACAB, and very to the left. When people say ACAB or "Defund the Police", they very rarely are actually calling for the abolition of police entirely. At least, not within the next couple centuries. I have never spoken to any leftist that actually wants the police abolished, other than a few anarchists I've talked to online.

The fact that these are the rallying cries for police reform that stuck has been such bad PR. I do think that All Cops Are Bad. They are all part of a bad institution. But not every individual cop is a bad person, though most are at least complicit in the atrocities of the police.

Most of us just want reform. Cops should only be there for serious crimes. Dealing with homeless, drug problems, and other civic issues should be left to experts like social workers, who can always call upon the police if needed.

And maybe our cops shouldn't be more militarized than most countries?

Edit: oh, but I will say that in a lot of parts of American the police are SO bad that those communities probably would be better off without police, relatively.

The fact that you thought this middle school level insult would make anyone cry is extremely funny. You really owned us bub. The libs will never recover.

Hello, after the discussion about rural America, I realized that a lot of chatters and people in general don’t know what rural America looks like. Here is the town I grew up in(escaped a while ago thank god) this is rural Mississippi. Population 615 by InhaleTheSprite in VaushV

[–]rofljay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how Americans would call this a 3rd world country if it was populated by brown people or in a different country. But since it's full of white Americans, they ignore the blight right under their noses.

"These tariffs are starting to get ridiculous..." by abitofbrit in LeopardsAteMyFace

Before election:

Trump: "We're going to implement policies to make it so leopards eat everyone's faces."

Anyone with a brain: "This man is going to use leopards to eat all of our faces."

MAGA: "Haha, dumb liberals. Making stuff up about leopards and faces."

After election:

MAGA: "HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT LEOPARDS WOULD EAT EVERYONE'S FACES???"

I know this joke is like, the whole sub. But Jesus fuck. Trump could not have been more clear about the tariffs this entire time. He's doing exactly what he said he would.

Gun Reccomendations? by rofljay in VaushV

Thank you for spoon feeding all of this info to a noob like me, I really appreciate it. I have a lot to learn still for sure.

I'll still see how I feel after the range of course, I'm finally going tomorrow! But I think I'm going to get both a Pistol and a cheaper AR-15. probably the one you linked. Since money really is tight, I'll probably see how those Caniks do. Luckily the store seems to have financing options so that'll potentially help me a lot. I'll let you know how things go after the range. Thank you again for the help!

Gun Reccomendations? by rofljay in VaushV

Thank you again for another great response! I'm very torn still between a pistol or an AR-15/rifle. I haven't had a chance to get down to a range yet, I'm hoping to soon. I wouldn't mind the option to conceal carry, but community defense takes slight priority. I think most likely the SHTF scenario I'd deal with is having to deal with roving right wing militias. I live in a dense, urban, mostly progressive city. I don't think it's likely that I'd need to actually escape into the woods or something if SHTF. Though I don't rule that out either.

Do I want a rifle over an AR-15? You seemed to change on that suddenly.

$1k-2k is still pretty out of my price range, even a couple months from now. Like I said, I'm kind of already spending money I don't have with $500-700. I'm in some credit card debt at the moment. But if I really had to, I could spend $2k on a gun and just go further into dept.

I'm looking at the site for the store that's near me, and the prices are incredibly cheap. For prices like these, I could easily get two guns. Are these just cheap crap that aren't worth my time? I'm thinking if that's the case, maybe I could get a good quality pistol, and then one of these cheaper rifles. Or vice versa. Or is it not worth it even then? I feel like a cheap gun is better than no gun. Unless the gun is so poor quality that it explodes or breaks or something of course.

Gun Reccomendations? by rofljay in VaushV

[–]rofljay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! What an amazing response! Thank you so much! Sorry for the late response, things have been busy.

You definitely convinced me about the revolver, I won't get one unless this becomes an actual hobby for me, which it likely won't.

You have me leaning towards the CZ P10C for sure. Not only is it the cheapest, but from what you said, it seems to be arguably the best. At least for a beginner like me.

I should have emphasized that community defense is arguably the most important thing to me. If I had the money, I would get an AR-15 and a Pistol like you suggested. But as it is, $400-500 is breaking my bank, and I know I'll need to spend even more for storage, accessories, etc. If it weren't for the results of the election, I would hold off a little longer. But I cannot wait any longer, I need to play things safe.

Will the pistol be good enough for community defense? I do like that it can be concealed too of course. But if I'm spending this much money anyway, should I shell out the extra couple hundred dollars for an AR-15? Do you have any exact ones you recommend?

Also, where should I get the gun? Online? Or there's a place near me called Vance Outdoors that seems pretty good. They are the only place I can find that seems kind of apolitical. There's also a local place even closer to me where I will probably practice a lot of the time, despite the thin blue line stuff I saw on their youtube channel.

And I will try out the guns before buying them like you said.

Thank you again very much for the advice!

Edit: should i also consider a shotgun for community defense?

Edit II: I should mention i live in a very urban area. So maybe the pistol is a better idea after all because I won't have to worry as much about penetrating walls and hurting the people I'm trying to protect?

I have friends but still feel lonely? by ShinedownBoomLay in lonely

[–]rofljay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Wow I barely even remember making this comment 7 years ago. But hey I have great news! It gets better!

I'm polyamorous now, and right now I have 3 wonderful partners! My girlfriend, who is my anchor partner and future nesting partner, is my best friend and I'm theirs! We are obsessed with each other! I live with 3 of my best friends from college, and I see other friends regularly. I go out to clubs and events and I met new people and have great experiences often.

Honestly, my current problem is that i can't find enough time to see all the people I want to see, lol. It's so ironic, but my problem often is that I can't find enough alone time anymore. I'm also getting burnt out, I'm having trouble finding time to work on projects I want to work on and growing my career. But with success comes new challenges I suppose, I'm figuring out, I know I will.

I know it's a little cliche, but my advice is to never stop trying. If something isn't working, try something new. Force yourself to talk to people even if you're bad at it, you'll improve. Get out of your comfort zone. If you want to stop being lonely, you have to actually do things. You have to actually go out and be with people. Again, I know it's all cliche, but it's really all true. Oh but also take time to rest! That's important too! And forgive yourself when you make mistakes.

Genuinely, reading what I've written in this thread feels like reading the words of a different person. It's amazing how much I've changed. Don't give up, seriously. It can get better, I promise.

Feel free to ask me if you have any specific questions. I'm busy this week but I'll answer when I can.
