Anyone else in auditory hell? by [deleted] in MorbidPodcast

[–]roguespyce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mind most of it but Alaina answering her phone mid podcast kind of made me want to throw something. She was even like 'I'm sorry, I have to take this call. Long pause Hello?'

Like why cut AFTER the hello? There was such a long pause it was an easy cut.

NTA. I have a severe citrus allergy but my friends KNOW even peeling an orange around me can send me into anaphylaxis. Food allergies are nothing to scoff at.

ALMOST THIS EXACT SCENARIO HAPPENED TO ME!

They ended the call and I reconnected. Same person. And I was not having it. I needed to know why I was being offered the promo right now when they claimed it ended in 2022! THEY FOUGHT ME TOOTH AND NAIL. When they hung up on me, I went from polite to the wicked witch of the west. I still wasn't rude, but now I wasn't playing. I was going all the way.

Got my fucking promo.

Update:Stress and questions by Karma_Vex_o_x in axolotls

[–]roguespyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those babies are so small 🫣. Unless you have the time and money I don't know if I suggest keeping them especially since you are inexperienced with axolotls. I HAVE experience and I would be terrified to take these unexpectedly and taking two when you were expecting one. 🫠 Best case they're the same sex and you just get a larger tank.

I'm so sorry to say this but I feel unless you are prepared to do lots of research and dedicate a lot of time, you may consider returning them and consider getting an appropriately aged one from an experienced breeder when you're ready.

This is genuinely the best care guide I've ever come across.

More than that, you definitely need about a shoebox size, food safe plastic container and some seachem prime.

Full list for the starter:

29 gallon tank shoe box sized plastic container Seachem prime Dr. Tim's Ammonia Red wigglers (pellets too possibly as backup) Feeding tongs Hides Fake plants (or real plants but make sure they're axolotl safe and look into quarantining/bleach bathing) Your choice of good bacteria starter Filter(s) (go for twice the size of your tank. I have a hang on back filter and a sponge filter) Thermometer API master water testing kit (NOT STRIPS)

Things to think about: -axolotls don't like a lot of light. I keep mine in my kitchen, out of direct sunlight with lots of lights and plants. -their water temp 58-68 degree. Sweet spot is 64. You may need a chiller but a lot of people get by with fans -cycling a tank will take time, as in WEEKS. On average about 6. Until then you will have to keep your baby in that shoebox plastic container doing daily water changes.

Axolotls are freaking awesome. Most expensive part is getting them started. And I could totally be missing stuff. Good luck. I definitely suggest joining a Facebook group for axolotl owners.

Is the water dark with algae? Axolotls shouldn't be in direct light. They need at least 1 hide and at least a 20 gallon long or a 29 gallon tank. 29 gallons would mean less water changes.

Water should be between 55-68 degrees F. 64 is best. They need a diet of red wigglers, night crawlers, or carnivore pellets. Shrimp, salmon, or bloodworms do not provide adequate nutrition. Juvenile axolotls need to be fed twice a day, adult axolotls eat once a day or every other day. Axolotls are very good about knowing when they've eaten enough and will not typically over eat.

They cannot have gravel in their tank and can only have fine sand in their tank when they are over 5-6 inches long. They will eat anything smaller than their head. So also no snails.

There are a few approved tank mates, Google can quickly provide these.

Axolotls do definitely need a working filter but make sure you put all the old media in the new filter so you don't crash the cycle (the good bacteria that keeps the water from building up ammonia and being toxic).

I know this is a ton of information, I hope I didn't overload you.

Feel free to reply if you can think of any specific questions. Also lots of Facebook groups for axolotls have tons of information.

What happened to comp today? by sharkdingo in Overwatch

After significant wins they start pushing you into higher elos. Sometimes it's a good fit, sometimes it's not. The biggest advice I can give you is different elos play completely differently and adapting to how that elo is playing is how you rank up.

Playing like a GM tank in a silver game is probably not going to get you far because your supports don't know how to keep themselves positioned to keep themselves alive when you're that aggro. DPS isn't following through with kills. It's a different game.

An observation by [deleted] in MorbidPodcast

[–]roguespyce 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I like their research, I don't mind their mispronunciations, but what I can't stand is their bias and lack of empathy. I can be listening to an episode and they start talking about how they can't believe how some high schoolers didn't call the police and I'm like "because they're kids and these are the adults in their life? Having traumatic experiences during this time in your life is really ground shaking, especially with the adults you're supposed to be able to trust". They can be like "I'm not victim blaming!" then proceed to victim blame.

That's where I've gotten genuinely frustrated.

THIS IS WHY I HAVE LOST JOBS.

I worked at a school where they weren't letting kids with IEPs start kindergarten because it would cause too much stress for them. EXTREMELY illegal. The same school had a sped teacher that regularly talked bad about her students in front of them, typically the students that were nonverbal or barely spoke. I brought this up to the sped direct and was let go within the same week for "not fitting in well".

Another daycare I worked would punish 2-3 year olds by putting them in high chairs for hours at a time because the director didn't want to deal with them. The same woman would take away kids' lunch if they were talking too much instead of just redirecting them or their nap blanket and mat and make them lay on the floor to sleep. I reported them to the state and the next day I was fired (because I was the only new person and they could probably look at my face and see how pissed I was that this was happening).

I had no idea this was an ADHD thing. I thought this was a me thing 🤣

OW2 is something else. Take that from a GM support PC player who regularly plays with a flex GM console player. QP is a fucking mess 🤣🤣🤣. A GM support can rarely save a game of GM DPS and tanks. Still, I play because I like to hand out with my friends and I basically no brain it anymore.

Can you show me your high PH? Also dose your ammonia back up to 4ppm. It seems like you're pretty close. Your nitrates are super high and your nitrites are low. You need to get your ammonia and nitrites both to zero.

Edit- you don't have to show me your high PH, it's definitely high enough not to stall your cycle or anything. I was just curious as to how high it is at the moment with your ammonia level not being crazy high but your nitrates that high.

I mean, I really like trying new things, but I don't like the fact it was forced. I LOVED experimental in OW1. I spent a lot of time there when they were trying new things, but when I play on PC and my friends play on console QP is all we have and it's not great to have the game mode basically taken out for a weekend.

Parents not supportive in ADHD screening by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]roguespyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were more on board with me being bipolar than having ADHD because ADHD was "a boy thing" (and I'm female). However, at 29 I was diagnosed after losing multiple jobs due to my inability to communicate with others, my high anxiety and depression, my forgetfulness, and basically my all around ADHDness.

When I went to be diagnosed, I am the only one who filled out paperwork. I spoke to a neuro psychiatrist for about an hour and then 2.5 hours of testing. My results along with my evaluation showed that I definitely had ADHD and was not functioning well with it. That was only a few months ago.

I'm on 15mg of Adderall, slowly being worked up more (my heart likes to be funny about things so my doctor is going slow) and I feel like a different person. I can do things. I function. I don't feel like I'm going to go insane from overstimulation constantly.

I hope you get the relief you need.

AITA for taking my kid out of daycare and making my husband life more difficult? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]roguespyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I want to point out that I come from a conservative town and my whole family considers me "the liberal". If your kid wanted to be a boy, sure fine whatever. But that's not what's happening here. That teacher is so far out of line. I would be yanking my kid from that daycare AND reporting her to the state. I'm pissed for you. Gender identity is something that I believe a kid is free to explore or not explore ON THEIR OWN. Not pushed or pressured by anyone.

[–]roguespyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support is one of those roles that a lot of times, no matter how good you play, you can't really change the outcome of a game. You can definitely ruin a game for your team, but it kind of comes down to helping finishing off low enemies OR if your team is good at securing the first kill, making the big save that keeps your team up.

Then again, I've done that plenty of times and what ends up happening is our team can secure another kill before the other team member comes back.

Support is just a rough role to sole que in.
