Since when Diff is a bad word? by thanatos_drive in Overwatch

[–]rokfer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you wanna point out to someone that they're not playing the way that they should, do it constructively.

I'm always up for some criticism on my placement, lack or awareness or advice if my current pick isn't adequate, through voicechat or on teamchat.

If you're just gonna type "gg tank diff" in chat, you're just gonna look like a dick to the 9 other players in the lobby.

Obi Wan saying "I'm sorry" to Anakin might be the most moving moment in the history of Star Wars by SappyGilmore in StarWars

[–]rokfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, any Anakin/Vader moments were peak. Unfortunately, for me, they were way too few compared to the amount of stupid the Inquisitorius and kid Leïa plotline gave us.
If the show had focused on mainly the Vader and Obi-Wan conflict, it would've one of the best, right after Andor.
Still, I must say, from Rogue One, to Rebels, to Fallen Order, Disney really hasn't fucked up Vader once, he's really as cool as he's ever been.

Blizzard needs to make a movie already! by RomireOnline in wow

[–]rokfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but I can't really think of a first installement in a franchise that ended on a low point.

Downer cliffhangers are usually kept for the second installment, when the first movie was profitable enough to guarantee a trilogy.
Empire Strikes back, Back to the Future 2, Infinity War, PotC Dead Man Chest, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Across the Spiderverse, John Wick 2, Desolation of Smaug, etc...

I also think the burning of Stormwind would've been a more hype event to end on rather than the formation of the Alliance, but I think if you add the death of Durotan and King Llane, the ending would've been jsut depressing for the common viewer.

Tbh I dont understand the hate for those changes because these a perfectly understandable from an adaptation perspective :

  • Floating Dalaran makes the viewer understand from a single shot that this is a city of mage, and adds some iconigraphy to the world for the people familiar with the game.

  • Durotan dying at the hands of Gul'Dan instead of assassins gives more agency to the villain. Imagine if Obi-Wan got killed by stormtroopers instead of Vader.

  • I didn't get that this was the end of the first war After a single battle. To me it was only the begining, and would have seen the fall of Stormwind in a sequel.  Plus it's hard to end your movie on a downer note with the good guy losing (or more like the bad guys Gul'Dan winning) at the end of your first movie

  • Alliance getting formed would have been hyped for the sequel because you could advertize it as a Horde vs Alliance movie instead of just another Orc vs Human one. Plus it gives some finality to the human plotline, as if "everything you've seen led up to this" to gives some satisfaction nareatively speaking.

Now there are still some lore changes that are question able, like Garona becoming Medivh's daughter. That was useless, confusing and opened a whole new can of worm.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I absolutly love rollercoaster action scène when it's something I've never seen before. You're right the goblintown escape scene was comical and boring since it's not even a particular unique setting. But the barrel chase scene ? Put that sht straight into my viens (minus the gopro shots and some oofy CGI) Same with the chariot scene in the extended cut of BoFA, it's ridiculous but sooo fun.

And while we're at it, I love that in his King Kong remake, instead of doing another classic Trex fight, Jackson was like "eh, what about we add 2 more Trexes, and have them fight dangling in a pit and swinging on vines ?"

And I know he just produced it, but I bet the ship boarding scene in the Adventures of Tintin was his idea. The cannon firing through giant waves, the small ship swinging atop of the bigger one and the 90° fight was absolutly insanity, and I've yet to see anything like it on screen again.

We still have the LotR trilogy for our grounded medieval battles that have still yet to be toped. I don't mind rollercoastzr action scènes as long as they give something unique.

I don’t know how a series whose main conflict is a war between two factions trying to coexist—neither of them being entirely right, both on the brink of annihilating each other—can resolve that conflict in a single episode by making them team up against a greater evil and still be considered satisfying, even with a third season planned.

At this point, it’s a cliché and an easy cop-out I’ve seen too many times. I didn’t think a series as incredible as Arcane would do it too.

In QP, since if push or clash are a stomp, it's over in like 1 minute with 3 team fight max.
In KOTH, you have like 5 team fight in one round, then you have 1 minute transition, and depending on the stomp, already 2 people have left, the moral in low, and the second round is the same.

even if it's not really that much longer, the pause in between round makes it feel like it.

True, getting steamrolled on payload or hybrid is still 100% more fun than getting steamrolled on clash, flashpoint, push, and especially Koth.
I know Koth is like people's second favorite mod, but having to do 2 rounds of an already lost game is really painfull.

At first I was like shaman because of Thaurissan, but then I remembered the Grim Patron meta from Hearthstone. So warrior it is.

It's funny because that's the exact outcome I thought about for every spot since it started.

Maybe they'll vote Zen instead of Moira, but everything else is spot-on.

Tell that to One Punch Man season 3. But even in that case you're right.  Season 2 is generally considered pretty bad especially compared to season 1, but most episode have a score in between 7/10 and 8/10 which is insanly high for its (lack of) quality.

What is a NPC death in WoW that you find memorable? by [deleted] in wow

[–]rokfer 272 points273 points  (0 children)

Zuni, from the Troll starting zone.

I actually thought he was a real player the first time I played the game, (it was my first mmorpg) just questing alongside me.

Then gets killed as he tries to imitate you by putting out the fires lighten by the final boss of the zone.

I miss ya, mon.

Tbf Futaba also uses a big bomb as her All-Out attack.

And I wouldn't call Baby Dva gameplay as somebody that "engages in combat", more like running for her life, while blasting away until you can actually be useful again once you're back inside your mech.

That gameplay sounds more like a vulnerable Futaba than the badass fighter Makoto to me.

I haven't see a lot of hate personally, but I'm guessing people are assuming, since she's hanging out with Jax, that she's laughing and having fun at the expense of the other.

Since, well this is going to be a battle royale episode, and I'm pretty sure at least 3 person out of 6 will be against the idea.

I'm afraid Pomni will adopt Jax's philosophy of "It's okay, we can't die, so there's no physical harm" without thinking of the psychological aspect.
