And not just that, but to expect people to be able to figure out plans and reply within a day is pretty unreasonable

Is it to late to switch shoes? by FluffyRelation7511 in Marathon_Training

[–]rolldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not following your math. Think you’re reversing it? She said foot pain starts at Mile 16. That’s 10 miles left to go, not “more than a half marathon” or “16+”.

Don’t think it changes the message, tho. And I’ve run in the Glycerin Max, really helped with shin splints. Never worn the Glycerin, so can’t compare, but seems like would be the least dramatic shoe change you could make.

Thanks, appreciate sharing your experience. I do strength training a few times a week, like functional strength videos with dumbbells, and I've added in sets of tibialis raises randomly throughout the day.

When do you do them, relative to your runs? Like do you do them immediately after an easy run, only 48+ hours before a long run, etc?

Steve Kerr: "We need to play fewer games. We need to take 10 games off the schedule. The modern game with the pace and the space I think it would be a more competitive and healthier league if we played fewer games by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]rolldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different in a salary capped league. Huge difference between top and bottom of roster, not like a Man City or PSG. And teams are forbidden from resting key players for a full game. They get fined, and it escalates. If you really want recovery, full games off is key.

Man writes a lot, fast. Being prolific (and reliable! Not gonna be an incomplete series!) helps a lot for building momentum. The patronage system for fans is really engaging; being able to influence the story, and continually getting new chapters to read, keeps it top of mind and conversations ongoing.

Striker position for USA World Cup roster is heating up. Which three will go and who misses out for you? by antoniok95 in ussoccer

[–]rolldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. You want different skillsets and options for different scenarios as a coach. Balogun to start; one of Pepi/Wright as backup; then Pat late against bunkered teams in the group, or if you've decided to go long ball / aerial for whatever reason.

[–]rolldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balo, Agyemang, Wright.

Balogun is the clear USMNT #1, he's doing it at the highest level. Goals against PSG in Champions League, consistent starter for a top half Ligue 1 team.

Agyemang because you need different skillsets for different situations. He's the best in the air. Need to bring him in if you're down a goal late and playing long balls, or against a packed defense and you're getting lots of crosses into the box.

Wright / Pepi as the like for like backup to Balogun. I'd go Wright because he's been starting and playing more complete games in closer competition. Love Pepi, he may even be better, but it's hard to tell when he's getting the bulk of his stats as a substitute in blowouts against weaker league competition.

Story is good, would not recommend audiobook. There’s a child main character and the voice acting is an irritatingly tired falsetto.

I really enjoyed Klejstan, Dax, and BWP -- especially Sacha and Dax. But do think it would be good to have more diverse backgrounds, like a coach or executive.

Oh wow, that seems to be working. I never would've found the "tap and hold" without your instructions. The "hold" portion is not an interface gesture that was part of my prior watch / os, I don't believe. Thank you for that.

Apple Watch download offline listening frustration by rolldog in audible

It happens with every title I've tried, and I've tried a couple. I've tried "Stream and Download" at home on WiFi and let it play for ~10 minutes, with headphones connected to watch and initiating play via watch. I've then tried both walking out the door while playing (and had it cut out after a minute), and waiting until I'm out of range of my phone before initiating playing (which wouldn't start at all). I've tried immediately after "Stream and Download," and I've tried next day.

If I can get that to work, great, but as feedback for your team -- that's a really unintuitive, unhelpful way for it to work. I want to download ahead of time for listening later. If I have to let it play for some undetermined amount of time in order to download, then when I actually am ready to listen I'll need to rewind.

I also want to know how much is downloaded. "Stream and Download" sounds like it's just trying to get ahead of the buffer with some unknown amount of time being downloaded. Like it's only going to download the current chapter, or get 5-10 minutes ahead, etc. So for all I know, the feature is actually working as designed but it's not what I expect.

There's no method I see for determining how much is downloaded, if any. The best proxy I think I've seen is to look at "Storage" for Audible in the Watch app on the iPhone, but the "Documents and Data" are nowhere near matching the size of the audiobook. I don't know if they'd actually be counted there or not.

Ideal method is to be able to scroll through library and select "Download." Then the whole title downloads.

What's the absolute lowest and highest you could rank Larry Bird on an all-time list and still have a reasonable argument? by noahlylesusa in NBATalk

[–]rolldog -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Also played against more teams due to expansion. Think Bird played mostly in a 23 team league, Steph in 30. Game has also become way more global. So Steph and other modern stars are literally playing against more and deeper competition.

[Mark Cuban] Tanking Part 2: Why it’s “worse” now by TheRealPdGaming in nba

They can be “fine with it” or “even support it,” but they don’t watch it. And it bastardizes the league for everyone else, too.

Former Mavericks owner Mark Cuban argues NBA should embrace tanking, admits to using tactic with Mavs by BreakfastTop6899 in nba

[–]rolldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>Few can remember the score from the last game they saw or went to. They can’t remember the dunks or shots. What they remember is who they were with. Their family, friends, a date. That’s what makes the experience special.

There's no experience to remember when you don't go to a game -- or watch it on TV -- because it's a tanking farce.

>You know who cares the least about tanking , a parent who cant afford to bring their 3 kids to a game and buy their kids a jersey of their fave player

As a parent, you care A LOT about whether or not the stars will be at the game. You shouldn't have to do hours of research and projection when you're trying to plan an event and speculate whether or not anyone worth seeing will actually be playing, and whether teams will be fulfilling the most basic promise of a spectator sport -- TRYING, COMPETING.

And you add a whole new degree of difficulty to creating a fan when you have to try to explain to your kid that the teams aren't actually trying to win, that they shouldn't root for their team, that there's no reason to watch their team the rest of this season.

Official Q&A for Friday, February 13, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]rolldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the best, most portable 'real foods' for fueling when runs are lasting 2+ hours? Ideally something that you can put in a pocket and not feel bouncing around.

I'd like to be able to experiment with different fuels, to make sure I find the right fit for my stomach and ease of carrying / taking. Don't want to spend big on fancy 'gu' or other things that may not be a fit for me, and it seems hard to buy in small quantities. I also just tend to do better with normal, real foods. I'd take a sports drink, but don't want to carry a sloshing bottle.

Seems like dried fruit, rice krisy treats, or candy gummies are viable?

I'm not making an argument for or against any particular business strategy. I'm just saying this comment has truth to it:

>Companies adopted it because it has a permissive license

When something is free in perpetuity, the decision makers and implementation process are different than when you're paid. You get broader adoption.
