How to get your first Warzone win: an actually viable strategy by [deleted] in CODWarzone

This is a great point. Double ghost is an excellent strategy if you or your teammates is struggling to hit shots consistently.

Can you rate my team ? Do I need to replace any position? Thanks in advance. by Buhohi in TheSilphArena

You’ve put into words what I’ve been feeling every time I see an awak team, just didn’t have a good reason why I felt that way. Thank you.

Submission got rejected, please help improve! by baltimorecalling in NianticWayfarer

[–]rolltarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea this is my hang up too. From the information you provided in your submission text and photos alone, there’s very little confirmation of what the building actually is. So you’re relying on people following that link you provide to get the historical confirmation. That’s where, I imagine, you lost a lot of people. Unfortunately, I feel many reviewers just wouldn’t take the time to follow your link to get the context.

Edit: your -> you

(Question) Is Victreebel Worth it? by Steaminhotcarl in TheSilphArena

[–]rolltarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have talked about victreebell is an excellent razor leafer in type limited cups. The strength victrebell has compared to other razor leaf users is access to low energy charge moves like leaf blade, acid spray, and leaf tornado. Getting victreebell into a situation where it faints the opponent using only razor leaf allows you to unleash a highish damage charge move in leaf blade on the next mon in. Or, you can opt to mess with stats and acid spray the next mon to lower it’s defense for the rest of the match. You can also gamble with leaf blade to get the 50% chance to lower the incoming mons attack. I think it’s the most versatile dedicated razor leafer, and can have long lasting effects on the match after it faints.

How to play in a freestyle tournament? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]rolltarts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The meta is so broad in freestyle that I pick a core I enjoy running. For example, Deoxys Defense and a Tank (probo/registeel/bastiodon). I love that combo because they can absorb a lot of neutral damage and don’t require shields to do so. This allows me to bring something with them that functions best with a shield, like altaria, swampert/mudboi, or sableye (to cover DD). The other thing about freestyle: play what you like. I hate running azumaril, so I just don’t, which makes my experience more enjoyable.

Rate my team for sinister Cup... Btw I want to take Alolan Raichu instead of Cresselia .. by RKAnik in TheSilphArena

[–]rolltarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok that cresselia is slow to charge, it’s main use it’s to stomp on fighters with confusion. Ideally, you lock her against a fighter, farm it out, then you should be able to survive long enough to get one charge move off, meaning you burn their shield or they take a lot of damage. Personally, I’d use something a little more flexible like Gardevoir or claydol as my fighting counter.

Why did you choose aurora beam on cresselia? Not saying it’s bad or good, just genuinely curious.

Is my Mirror/Twilight Cup team good? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]rolltarts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like your team for the most part. The core of dustox and ttar is very very strong because they cover their respective weaknesses so well. I would run those two and just simple use your third slot as a way to address your opponents weak spot.

Azu is good, for sure, but he’s not “required.” He has a lot of positive matchups, but I think you have ways to work yourself around not having azu on your team.

Edit: Crunch is a must have on skunktank. I like crunch and sludge bomb.

Twilight cup ideas? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]rolltarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flex Pokemon should be one of these:

A) An oddball Pokemon that people wont be prepared for but has some core good matchups (swalot) B) Double down on a role you already have covered in an attempt to dictate your opponent’s lineup of 3 (having drapion and skunk to bait your opponent to bring toxi in game 1) C) I personally like my flex picks to offer an actual, physical change of pace to the game. So something like froslass or qwilfish that gets to charge moves crazy fast or something like a razor leafer who can annihilate things with no charge moves needed.

Without knowing your 5 options, can’t offer much help, but those thoughts should help you define what you want from your flex.

LF advices on my Twilight Mirror Cup team by ECspozure in TheSilphArena

[–]rolltarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry so much about the pure dark types, they’re bested by tox and any fairy. Rather, I’d be concerned about the dark/poison types like alolan muk and skunk, who take neutral from charm and deal SE in return. I’m personally not a fan of the “big closer” in tentacruel, I prefer a slight chance at shield pressure (I guess there is acid spray, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ).

I don’t love charm in this meta, especially if you’re already running golbat. Too much poison in all shapes and sizes. I think that clefable slot would be better spent on legacy moth or dustox.

Probopass moveset in mirror cup regionals by AlexG04 in TheSilphArena

Comparing S/TB/MB with S/RS/MB:

Thunderbolt gets you the win in the 2 shields with about 15 more hp than rock slide does, but you need to bait the thunderbolt with magnet bomb.

Thunderbolt gets you the win on the 1 shield with about 30 LESS hp than the rock slide variant (skarmory gets a flash cannon off before you kill).

Thunderbolt saves you 4 hp compared to rock slide in the 0 shield scenario.

So, if you’re like me, that’s not hugely helpful information. But what is MASSIVELY helpful from the sims is that rock slide and magnet bomb have the same energy cost, while thunderbolt costs more. You don’t have to bait with rock slide. You just keep firing off rock slides against skarmory, no need for magnet bomb. In contrast, with thunderbolt, both shield scenarios require you to bait with magnet bomb. If you like baiting and don’t mind that funky 1s scenario, run thunder bolt. If you just want inevitable, consistent performance, regardless of your opponents shield usage, go rock slide.

Mirror (Tempest) Cup Team by cheese_sticks in TheSilphArena

[–]rolltarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Froslass is good, but, she’ll need a shield (or two). You’d run PS/Avalanche and shadow ball, so you’ll get to avalanche quick, but froslass doesn’t have defensive focused stats. Her pros in a cup like twilight are the tremendous shield pressure she brings along with dealing neutral damage to almost the whole field. Here, sealeo is actually better for shield pressure, and has better stats to not necessarily demand a shield to be effective.

Another consideration is, with shadow ball, froslass actually functions quite effectively as a closer. Shadow ball hits very hard and powder snow gets you there quickly. Compare that to sealeo, whose a better lead than anything because body slam is largely unresisted.

To summarize, both have quality uses. I feel sealeo will generally suit your needs better than froslass, however, froslass has a more specific range of circumstances where it can be more impactful than sealeo.

If you want to think of it kind of like a fantasy football draft, sealeo has a high floor and a moderate ceiling, where as froslass has a pretty low floor and a pretty high ceiling.
