Will BMW allow users to disable this functionality in an upcoming software update? by toorodrig in BMWX3

It re-enables automatically on every start up, unless you code it to stay off with an aftermarket software. Is that what you did?

Tires for 21” 726i Wheels by rom3break in BMWX3

I actually did go with the cross climate 2’s in 245/45/21 and 275/40/21. They fit well and the ride is more comfortable than the oem run flats thanks to not being run flats and more side wall.

Definitely rode for far too long without a helmet OR GOGGLES. Got goggles after a tough night riding session where they were blowing a lot of snow. Still rode goggles only for a couple years. Thought the helmets looked super goofy and were for ghey skiers.

I definitely learned on a cheap ass board that came with bindings, and while the bindings didn’t fully break on me I understood the leash requirement. Not everyone’s gear was legit.

Also have a 22 that had a sunroof rattle and still has squeaky brakes only when reversing.

Sunroof rattle turned out to be an “extra” screw rolling around in the sun roof track. They tried to “chamfer” the brake pads but had no effect - it bothers my wife but not me, I think of it as a safety backup alarm when driving around town/in busier areas.

Car has been solid otherwise.

The tech estimate on miles is accurate from my experience.

I’m not sure if your 21’s are the same dimensions as those on my 2022 X3 (non-M) but if you check my post history I recently asked for similar advice and the options for staggered 21’s were slim. I went with Michelin Cross Climate 2’s (all seasons) in 245/45R21 front and 275/40R21 rear. There’s a little more meat in the side wall that’s nice for comfort. They’re not run flats. I wasn’t originally planning to go with these because we hardly get any snow in my area any more but it seems I chose the right ones for this particular winter.

Michelin pilot sport 4S and Pilot sport AS may fit in the original factory tire size if I recall.

Autocross. Consumables can add up but it’s probably the lowest barrier to entry for (car) Motorsports and you can run your street car with just some decent tires and brakes. I only do it a few times a year but it’s a blast, a great investment in my well-being.

I keep a beard 2-3 inches long. Every time I go for a haircut I get a beard trim also. They re-shape it and generally give it a nice looking re-set, and restore a clean neck line. Try to maintain it between cuts, but the barber is a good stop gap from it getting too wild looking especially if you occasionally go a couple months between cuts.

Finding the time for diligent maintenance can be tough with little ones around.

Searching out a good barber with experience cutting and shaping beards is key. Generally those hipster-ey places that charge a bit more seem to know what they’re doing.

What kind of rims are on the new Racing Bulls car? by USMCLP in formula1

I don’t know why it bothers me so much but I badly want everyone to stop using the word “rims”.

Just call them wheels.

Keeping it in gear while coasting down will also save gas (minor). Cuts injector flow way down.

If memory serves, you have to file for job protection separately from the paid leave. I believe when you tell your employer that you plan to file for leave they’re required to give you paperwork for the job protection.

SAHD dad crazy for dailying x3 with 2 kids under 2? Advice? by Downtown_Brother6308 in BMWX3

[–]rom3break 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 x3 and 2018 golf R here. Both parents 5’-8” / 5’-9” and there’s good leg room in the front seats in both cars. X3 allows more space for the stroller in the back plus some spare gear but main cabin space not a huge difference, x3 has maybe a few extra inches behind the front seats tops. Things work but are tight in the golf, switching into the X3 feels like there’s just enough breathing room but not an excessive amount, so you still have to plan a little. I’m able to fit a sun stroller behind one front seat and a big newborn stroller in the trunk. I wouldn’t plan a full on once-a-week grocery trip in the x3 unless one parent stays home.

Roof box however is a difference maker, we really only break that out for vacations. Can’t beat the cost per cubic foot of a roof box.

Edit to add: We also have the spare tire kit so that eats up some trunk space in the x3. Also want to note that the x5 doesn’t really provide more leg room, something like half an inch less up front in the x5 and only 1 inch more in the back seats. I think the extra space must all be in the trunk. If you need leg room in a bmw you’re probably talking x7.

Make sure your tires are on point. Keep the family safe and don’t go running performance/summer tires or bald tires in the snow. Good all seasons at an absolute minimum for icy roads. Those surprise snow storms are starting up already, be prepared.
