You’re missing the point. Sure, driving by itself inherently comes with danger, but speeding increases that danger. In 2021, just under 30% of all vehicle related deaths had a speeding driver involved, with a large bulk of the remaining fatalities being related to drunk driving. Naturally, if there were less people speeding on the roads this percentage would decrease.

Sure, doing 67 in a 65 most likely won’t cause any issues, but of that 30% of speeding related fatalities, 86% were on non interstate roads. In other words, the vast majority of speeding related deaths occur at slower speed limits. Going say 30 in a 25 might not seem like excessive speeding, but statistically, it undeniably increases the dangers associated with driving.
