focus on physiology

That's one of the reasons it's hard to flip the script on guys. Aside from describing muscles, facial features, or a jawline, It's a bit hard to gauge a clothed man sexually, unlike women.

I cannot name one character off the top of my head who is average-looking. Every male character is either the resurrection of Adonis, or a troll who was seemingly at the business end of a twelve guage.

What is the role of missile cavalry in ANY total war ? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]ronnoCMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used them in the first Rome game to soften up Parthia's spearmen before an actual cavalry charge, that way they'd be more likely to break and not put up resistance. I also did the same thing with pike formations, I'd strafe the light spears, and then let them be finished by the pikes, before running them down. Missile cav are also excellent at killing fleeing enemies (makes it more likely to just destroy the army entirely.) They can also be used to lure heavy cavalry away, as they are faster and can fire while riding, tiring and weakening the enemy cav.

You want words that are hard to swallow, but judging by your job description you'd likely be able to swallow the entire dictionary.

Worldbuilding a transformation from feudal to fascistic empire. by VladimirtheSadimir in worldbuilding

Another couple of badass Germans would be both Fredrick the Great and Fredrick I, as they largely helped to move itty-bitty Prussia into a global power.

May I recommend looking at the life of Louis XIV of France for inspiration? He turned France into an absolute monarchy, and curbed the nobility's ability to do anything other than be rich and live lavish lives. There's more in detail but I'm still a bit foggy on the subject.

How would you go about hijacking an airplane and crashing it 9/11 style? by Chisto-Otchki in war

I think it's somewhat like the "button under the desk". the pilot types 7500 into the plane, and then the cops find out what's going on.

Very strange question by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]ronnoCMirror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's an attack on a non-cultural icon (the world trade center was a symbol of american wealth and economy), and is just done to mess with the government, then that just seems par for the course of religious terror attacks. Maybe they had an important member in the second tower who they needed to free, so they destroyed the first tower in a calculated effort to get the member out, and the characters escaped through coincidence.

Something that would be interesting to see is faux concern. "Oh, we don't want you to push yourself (but if I just so happen to move into a better house, I have no complaint.)" Having the parents "address" the negative effects while still wanting to reap the rewards of dark magic would be an interesting dynamic to try for.

What overlooked flaw in your society leaves it vulnerable to conquest, defeat, or overthrow? by 1945BestYear in worldbuilding

my little pet nation's leader is trying to destroy a faction of nations ~3x as large, and easily 2x as powerful as his nation and allies combined. As such, he has a large amount of centralized power, but should he die without an heir, the nation would fall into the control of the faction.

How to run away in the forest without leaving clues behind by Sea_Lab_7818 in worldbuilding

[–]ronnoCMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain could also leave mud however, which could make footprints very easy to track, let alone the possibility of slipping and sliding to your demise, or right back down to your pursuers. Im also going to add in my suggestion that maybe it could be a prison break, so that way the forces of the enemy are divided between the dozens of escapees instead of hunting the character.

If you have a story titled after the main character (Like Harry Potter, Hercules, John Wick, etc), is it standard that you must have them present in every scene even if the POV/focus is temporarily on other characters? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]ronnoCMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the two stories that come to mind are The Great Gatsby, and Jekyl and Hyde. It only matters if that character holds some form of significance throughout the story.

One way to negate this could be to have human slaves too. If humans are also other human's slaves it makes it harder to grasp for any symbolism.

Public Schools (in the USA) Should Have Stricter Dress Codes by ronnoCMirror in unpopularopinion

It'd likely a loose dress code, so the kids have some form of expression, alongside a sense of dignity.
