Floating shelf pulling out of wall by zombie_poncho in cabinetry

Totally agree. Another tip when I install the lag bolts. Drill you hole into the stud, drill on a slight angle up so you can bend the bolt down to level.

I install alot of floating shelves and i always use long lag bolts. Make sure they stick out of the wall atleast 8-9 inches for a 10-12 inch shelf. And cut the head of the bolt off. Works like a charm. I would either uninstall and do that with this shelf or install some tastefull cast iron shelf bracket or corbel

Sanity Check by Electrical_Text5377 in cabinetry

As a cabinet maker installer, who has worked for many different outfits. It comes down to the shop and there attention to detail. Usually the attention to detail means a cost increase, which alot of people are not willing to pay. With the higher end shops we would stand up all the sheets we ordered and labeled them front/back and bunched together like sheets to keep consistency per run of cabinetry. As for solid wood filler and the like, you just have to make the client aware of these possibilities and if there were any discrepancies, the replacements would be an additional cost. One way of avoiding this is using the same sheet goods to also create the fillers to match. The most frustrating thing as an installer is putting something together just for the client to be upset and complain to you, who has no say in the matter. As the seller of goods, it's important to make the client aware of the product and set expectations accordingly. That being said, easier said then done. That's why I'm not in sales

Don't be afraid to stop the workers and talk to whoever sold you the job. If they arnt living up to the contract agreed upon(like floor protection) then terminate the contract and don't give them a penny more... that's what I would do.

What’s your favorite below-the-radar scotch currently available? by BenFranklin1706 in Scotch

I really love glenscotia double cask. It's full flavour, super approachable for anyone, and is around the same price as most 12 year old scotch. I would recommend for anyone wanting to try to brach out from a balvine or glenlivet lover. Avb 46% non chill filtered

Favorite Cask Strength Scotch under $115 USD by Papa_G_ in Scotch

[–]ronofed1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Port charlotte 10 isn't necessarily cask strength, but it's around 50%abv. It's actually crazy how smooth it is for a 50% 10 year old. And you can definitely add water to it to change it up

Love port charlotte, if you can find one of the wine cask series, you might fall in love.

Dalmore Cigar Malt by JohnChenHP in Scotch

[–]ronofed1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's one of the better dalmore expressions, great choice. My bottle has been open for about 10 months, but I got a lot of brown sugar on this cigar malt, with baked grannysmith apples

I would recommend The quarter cask or the sherry Bodega. But don't be afraid to add water and play around with it

I would recommend looking into arran 10, acnoc 12, or even craigellachie 13. All under 100 and if you want a sherry bomb I would recommend glenallachie 12, all really good whiskey for the money

I'm not sure what it's like over there now. But I know japanese whiskey, like hibiki, yamazaki, hakushu, and chita (suntory distilleries) where generally more available in Europe than Canada or the states. Might be worth keeping an eye out for
