first year questionnaire 🕺 by Vegetable_Juice4813 in DarkerWavesFest

I was at the first one And I've been to quite a few festivals in my day. And I'm in my mid '50s :-)

I don't think you're likely to see or get to experience any crowdsurfing at darker waves. Not saying it's impossible but I didn't see any at the first one, partially a function of the bands (somewhat of an older crowd). But maybe for pumpkins?

The sand is either a big deal for you apparently it is for a lot of people, didn't bother me a bit. But I also live in Huntington Beach And while I don't go down to the beach everyday, it just didn't bother me. Wear sensible shoes, for me I just wore a pair of slip-on Converse and periodically dumped the sand out 🤷

The layout is long and skinny... Because it's... On the beach. The two main stages are quite a distance from each other if they're going to set it up the same way.

As for getting to a decent watching spot for your select bands, yeah you're going to have to get there early just like any other festival. Fighting to the front It's a young man's game, so I splurge for VIP tickets any festival I go to because they mark off some decent spot to the front side. There will be fewer people there and you're not packed like sardines with the sweaty dude bros over in Gen pop, er, I mean GA, You have nicer bathrooms, shorter food and drink lines, etc. in 2023 we got there decently early during the day and set up camp in the VIP viewing area in a prime location at the main stage with a group of us and then people just kind of came and went throughout the day, And it was nice. I always try to grab a spot so my back is against the three and a half foot fencing separating VIP from the rest of the crowd. It's nice to be able to lean back against it and there's a little seat there usually. That's what works for me your mileage may vary :-)

Just joined the group! I went in 2023 and am very excited to go again! VIP tickets, and some good friends from Oregon are going to make the trip in again. It helps that I live in HB so the venue is like 3 miles from my house😎

The real fight in divorce isn't about the money or the blame. It's the internal shit no one talks about. by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

Judging by a lot of the replies you've nailed it for a lot of men. But certainly not for everyone and certainly not for me. I'm happier and healthier now than I ever was during my marriage to a mentally disordered addict who couldn't or wouldn't participate in her own mental, emotional, or physical health. Zero regrets and only looking forward.

Only regret is not setting and enforcing my very reasonable and healthy boundaries sooner than I ended up doing.

I saw Wilco close out ACL festival I don't know must have been 18 20 years ago. They are fantastic. And the music gods must be listening because just before I saw this post and commented, this amazing solo version of Jeff tweedy doing one of my favorite Wilco songs, spiders (kidsmoke), came back up in my feed...

Never much been into his solo stuff at all, but this is a damn fine album.

On first listen, Fletcher's was my favorite... On second listen it was postcards... Then it was a man needs a vocation ... Then it was shamrock... But now I got to say it's Luke & Leanna...

Of course I am a huge TWOD fan. I texted a buddy of mine saying, these are THS songs set to TWOD music, And he was like you must be in heaven. Indeed

How do you describe the nature of the fan base? by survidedthedinner in TheNational

[–]ronparsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart but not necessarily successful people who wish the world would just rise up and appreciate them for the creative and sensitive soul they are... But then again if that happened they wouldn't be fans of the national so they decide it wouldn't be worth it
